MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES – December 20, 2019 1 Present: Cheryl, Heike, Laura, Helen, Bert Absent: Caroline, Sandra, Gaye Staff: Tracy Chappell Chair Spencer called the meeting to order at 12:36pm. Consideration and possible action on approval of November 15, 2019 minutes. Only change was that Belcher called the meeting to order, not Chair Spencer. MOTION WAS MADE TO APPROVE THE MINUTES FOR NOVEMBER 15, 2019 LYLE/NESS/UNANIMOUS Main Street Coordinator Report: Chappell gave update on public restroom site plan. Board had an interest in finding out if the restrooms could be located behind the forestry building, rather than the current proposed location) Committee Reports: Looking for new member to head up the promotions committee. Consider signage and advertising permitted in downtown. Discussion involved the possibility of implementing a time permit on signage such as feather flags. There is a concern that larger flags like this are in the site line of drivers and get in the way of customers on the sidewalks. Small flags do not seem to have these same issues. Public Comments: NONE Items of Interest: Crepe myrtles continuing to be an issue. The board has voiced a desire to replace the larger trees with something smaller or with potted trees and plants. This is becoming a safety concern as the roots of these trees are causing the pavers to lift and become a tripping hazard. Judge Sandel recently almost suffered a severe fall.
