Meeting Called to Order: Hereschell Mynarcik called the meeting to order at 12:05 p.m.
321 & 329 Park Ave, Façade Grant Application: Brent McLane presented the staff report for 321 Park
Ave and 329 Park Ave. The property was built in approximately 1967 after the Dill-Winn building burned
down. It was built in the midcentury modern style and has a recessed entrance which needs to be
maintained for store fronts in the Downtown area. The bulkhead under the windows is something that
we would want to maintain along with the unique overhang. Some things that are proposed for change
include: New parapet cap-metal trim to match the canopy, clean and point brick, repaint previously
painted brick, retain the existing awning, clean-up with new paint and trim. Potentially repaint lettering
of the new business, repair the underside of the awning with metal panels and integrated lighting,
replace the roofing membrane on the awning, new commercial grade windows and doors to match
existing openings as closely as possible, and potentially add wire or steel bracing from building to the
top of the awning.
321 and 329 are two different facades. The improvements would recognize it is a uniform building but
separate store fronts that complement each other. The proposal maintains the integrity of the building,
the important characteristics of the building are intact, they are retaining the recess and the bulkhead to
the store front preserving the iconic awning, but at the same time delineating the two store fronts.
The City is only the recommending body. That, along with application will go to Shipo to review.
McLane explained there are two applications because it is two different tenants and two different
owners. Filing two separate application making the funding separate from each other and makes it
cleaner.
Christopher White made a motion to accept the applications as presented and Catherine Smith
seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
Meeting Adjourned at 12:18 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted
