PARKS & RECREATION SHADE TREE COMMITTEE MINUTES Tuesday March 27, 2018 Activity Center 12:00 Noon ATTENDEES: Mayor Casper, Gerry Bates, Lee Washburn, Delbert Lloyd, Matt Hill, Ronnie Campbell, Brian Stevens APPROVAL OF MINUTES October 2017 minutes approved- Gerry Bates, second Kerry Beutler COMMITTEE MEMBER UPDATE Lee was in contact with John Russel with Eagle Rock Nursey about being a STC member – no response. Lee will reached out to Aaron McCracken from Sunny Side Gardens to see if he would like to be a STC member. Gerry Bates re-appointed to the STC in March of 2018 ORDINANCE REVISION o Delbert: decided to leave the tree list in the ordinance o Genene: submit ordinance to Randy Fife. CONDITIONS AND CONCERNS – HOLMES AND 25TH STREET: Ronnie will work with public works. OLD BUTTE TREE FARM Need to have the area leveled and design a system for watering. This may be the area for Arbor Day 2018. CITY TREE DISCUSSION o Mayor Casper talked about the trees that are tagged by the street department that the city PIO needs to put out a notification to the HOAs in the neighbors and run a public notice regarding the tags. Red-tagged trees are selected by the street department and park and rec need to decide what the next action will be. Delbert asked the mayor to talk to Public works to see if the tagging can go on trees that have over 2” branches. Matt Hill will submit a statement to the Mayor. Mayor would like to the tree ordinance on the web page – once council approves the revised ordinance, Genene will have the ordinance on the web page CALL FOR AGENDA ITEMS o Trees and Shrub Booklet update – Delbert: talked about updating the Trees and Shrubs for Idaho Falls pamphlet, by next fall.
