WAR BONNET ROUNDUP RODEO ADVISORY COMMITTEE Thursday, July 9, 2021 Bank of Idaho 11:00 a.m. Members in Attendance: K. Jones, K. Staten, D. Marshall, , K. Searle, B. Skinner, P. Holm, C. Horsley, R. Campbell, B. Cranor, H. Pettingill, T. Shay, R. Buchan Members not in Attendance: J. Newgard, D. Sorensen Call to Order K. Jones called the meeting to order at 11:09 Approval of Minutes B. Skinner motioned to approve the June 24, 2021 minutes. D. Marshall seconded. Director Report – P. Holm  P. Holm contacted Kris Millgate and she was the one who filmed the tribe video. He will ask her to look for a copy in her files.  The Kick-off event needs promoted more. Chair Report – J. Newgard (absent) Action Items 1. Contestant food – K. Staten  K. Staten will give the rodeo secretary Debi Davis food vouchers for the contestants. They will use these vouchers at the Legion tent.  Dutch Brothers has donated coffee for the contestant tent. Tent location to be decided. D. Marshall suggested we also have coffee available at slack. Committee Reports Military Affairs/American Legion – B. Skinner  B. Skinner is still working on getting the Humvee confirmed. We will not go with a smoke machine as they are either electric or expensive, but we might try smoke bombs.  He has obtained all the military flags. K. Jones advised she has the military music.  He asks committee about the size of the War Bonnet logo on the guns he’s having engraved as soon as T. Sessions pays for them.  He has use of a cargo trailer to store Legion food items. Hospitality/Sponsorships – K. Staten  K. Staten advised that she’s been working on Legends of the War Bonnet. Shannon and John will ride in the wagon along with breast cancer survivors.  Champs Heart is scheduled for Friday night at 6:39pm.  She confirmed rentals needed by committee members.  The food caterers will be as following: Blackhawk BBQ for Thursday, North Hi-Way for Friday, and Café Sabor for Saturday. She had a few menu options added to their menu. Livestock Welfare – K. Searle  Kelly Wardell is unable to make our rodeo and we will have “Fighting John Wright” back with us instead.  K. Staten suggested to K. Searle that we arrange a practice emergency exit for injured animals on Wednesday after the kick-off or following slack.  Jason Landon will be coming back to the rodeo to work the chutes.  There was group discussion on WBR cushions in the box for 2022, along with WBR chaps for the pickup men? Marketing & Advertising – P. Holm  All the tickets are in. Letters to the sponsors are ready to go. General admission tickets are being held at Municipal Services.  The National Anthem singers are arranged.  We are using Infinity Security Company for the rodeo.  The War Bonnet staff meeting will be August 2nd at Sandy Downs under the VIP tent at 7:00pm.  P. Holm meets with Idaho Falls Power Friday, July 9th at Sandy Downs to go over fiber needs and locations. Facilities/Grounds & Security – R. Campbell  The bleachers should be finished by the end of this week.  D. Marshall recommended we check the lighting since the new ones we ordered won’t arrive in time. R. Campbell will have them checked and they can be re-angled if necessary. Media/Emergency Action Plan – B. Cranor  B. Cranor has been working with I.E. Productions and he will talk to them about promoting the kick-off. Youth Rodeo/Family Night – C. Horsley  There will be family games for all three nights of the rodeo.  B. Skinner advised Chris that he will not be involved in the mutton-bustin, so Chris needs to be sure to get the day sheets to the announcers who can also help with judging. C. Horsley advised this event is filling up but there are still plenty of spots on Wednesday night. Shoshone Bannock Tribes – T. Shay  He will have some vendors at the event. Perhaps craft vendors.  The teepee location was discussed. B. Skinner motioned we put the teepee in front, to the right, in front of the kids section as you walk in the gate. K. Staten seconded. All in favor. We need to have someone watching the tent area and B. Cranor suggested we have someone at the tent with some educational information. Make it an educational experience?  T. Shay discussed the budget for the tribal performers and asked about the pay structure. The pay structure going forward was discussed. A lump sum for each group would be best.  He has seven dancers confirmed along with the Spring Creek drummers.  R. Campbell advised we will have corals and feed available for the tribe’s horses. They will need to feed the horses themselves. Production/Royalty – K. Jones  Production logs have been distributed.  She has wrapped up a few things with Frostview and advised the Royalty wants to do a luncheon.  The Barrelman will need three assistants and the trick riders will need five.  The motorcross was discussed and K. Staten advised they are working on the logistics but will do the event for free.  B. Skinner advised that Rod Remsburg has offered to do any voices overs if needed. Financial Report – D. Sorensen (absent) Adjournment K. Staten moved to adjourn the meeting at 12:44 pm. B. Skinner seconded. Meeting adjourned. Next meeting will be July 15, 2021 Recorded by T.
