WAR BONNET ROUND UP RODEO ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Call to Order
K. Jones called the meeting to order at 11:07am.
Approval of Minutes
B. Skinner motioned to approve the February 22nd minutes. S. Woolstenhulme seconded. All in
favor.
Director Updates – P. Holm (absent)
Chair Report/Production – K. Jones
K. Jones reported on the following:
• The War Bonnet Royalty winners are Bailie Bramwell (Miss War Bonnet Round Up),
Sydney Mitchell (War Bonnet Round Up Teen Queen), and Edie Barnes (War Bonnet
Round Up Princess).
• K. Jones discussed adding a side event to rodeo week and collaborating with a Mustang
Recovery Challenge Program for cross advertising between their event and our rodeo.
• The Bonneville County 4H will be hosting a ball on April 13th, and if we can get enough
participants to attend, the War Bonnet will purchase a table.
• Following this year’s rodeo, Volunteer of the Year submissions will be submitted at the
Good, Bad, Ugly meeting.
• Reminder - April 27th will be our Volunteer Appreciation/Royalty Crowning event at the
American Legion Hall at 6pm.
• Chad Casperson phoned into the committee meeting to discuss the mini bull riding event
and ways to eliminate future problems with bull fighters and riders.
Committee Reports
Tribal Relations – S. Woolstenhulme
S. Woolstenhulme reported on the following:
• S. Woolstenhulme continues to try and meet with tribal official Echo to discuss making a
new opening tribal video.
• She is still seeking someone to provide a tee pee for the rodeo.
Military Affairs/American Legion – B. Skinner
B. Skinner reported on the following:
• Unfortunately, due to USS Idaho crew being too busy, we will not be able to incorporate
them into our military segment. We will however continue with the Humvee and a
military officer wearing a Stetson.
Vice Chair/Hospitality/Sponsorship – K. Staten
K. Staten reported on the following:
• April 27th is the Royalty Queen clinic, and they have nineteen girls signed up thus far.
• K. Staten continues to work on billboards, digital advertising, ticket advertising, etc. She
will also work with news agencies to advertising the reserved seating section.
• The food vendors are being lined up.
• There will be a behind the chutes party again this year.
• The band for Saturdays after party is lined up.
• Sponsorships are going well.
Marketing-Advertising/Tickets – R. Buchan
R. Buchan reported on the following:
• On-line tickets go on sale on April 2nd.
• The information for printed tickets will be sent to Alpha Graphics next week as soon as
the QR codes are done.
• The website is up and live.
Facilities & Grounds & Security – J. Moad
J. Moad reported on the following:
• The crew is finishing the upstairs wall near the board room.
• He will be working with an electrician to wire the rodeo secretary shed. K. Staten will help
him with shed lay out.
• He will be extending the gate near the old track to make more room in that area.
Communications/Public Information – E. Grossarth
E. Grossarth reported on the following:
• He is finalizing a press release for the online ticket sales including reserved seating.
Youth Rodeo/Family Night – C. Horsley (absent)
Financial Report – C. Price
C. Price reported on the following:
• C. Price passed out the War Bonnet budget showing current balances and where money
has been spent thus far.
Livestock Welfare – B. Robertson
B. Robertson reported on the following:
• B. Robertson confirmed Dr. Moulton attends slack. B. Robertson will be reaching out to
him. He also confirmed whether we will have the chiropractor back again this year.
• The Break-a-way jackpot was discussed. K. Jones confirmed we can fit it in. B.
Robertson will handle all staff to run the event and will get logistics to K. Jones.
Outreach – T. Fonnesbeck (absent – written report e-mailed)
T. Fonnesbeck written report on the following:
• He is working on rodeo advertising with the golf courses utilizing scorecards, banners,
and a beer deal in the cafes.
• The coloring page will be ready July 1st.
• He is also working on the city-wide treasure hunt.
