Minutes Forestry Committee 10-12-23 The meeting was called to order at 3:34 p.m. Roll was called. Amy Walters, Dennis, Erik, John, and Laurie were present. There was no address from the public. Dennis moved to approve the minutes of the 9-14-23 meeting, John seconded, passed. New business discussed included: - A general update was presented, which included: Tree planting progress. There are roughly 48 trees and 70 perennials to plant. Possibility of applying for a grant either this fall or next spring. Quotes going out for the 2nd ave grant imminently. Grass mowing is still ongoing but slowing some. Winterizing is nearly completed. Some low priority items are yet to be completed. - Arbor Day 2023 was discussed. Most feedback was positive. It was suggested that the high school may be a good option for arbor day 2024. The forester will investigate this. - UFMP subcommittee is making progress, but slower than anticipated. This will push the work out further than the end of October. Tentatively planning for the end of the year. However, we will see as we go. One position is available and being advertised. Once all positions are filled, work will be much quicker. Old business included: - Laurie gave an update on the thank you for Tex. Other business included: - The question was raised as to when Ashley Wolf will begin attending the forestry committee meetings. The motion to adjourn was made by Laurie, was seconded by John, and passed. The meeting was adjourned at 3:59 p.m.
