City Council

COUNCIL MEETING SEPTEMBER 27, 2022 5:30 P.M. PRESENT: Ahrenholtz, Jackson, Sloan, Wetrich, Zmolek ABSENT: None Mayor Gordon presided. Bruce Banister addressed the City Council during the open forum. He was following up on his previous discussion with the City Council at the September 13, 2022 meeting. He commended the City and particularly code enforcer Chad Stevens on the progress that had been done in cleaning up a residential property at 705 W Sunset Rd and looked forward to additional progress to come. The Council thanked Bruce for coming back to follow up. Brian Markins addressed the City Council during the open forum. He discussed his interest in ATVs and ATV safety, and how important it was in the community. He commended Police Chief Mark Clouse for the efforts toward ATV safety. On motion by Ahrenholtz, second by Zmolek, the Council approved the following consent September 13, 2022 Council Minutes, Sewer adjustments were approved of $82.21 at property 727 S Chestnut Street, $147.00 at property located at 604 W State Street, and $572.15 at property located at 701 N Cedar Street. AYE: Ahrenholtz, Jackson, Sloan, Wetrich, Zmolek NAY: None ORDINANCE NO. 613 On motion by Sloan, second by Wetrich, the Council approved the third reading and final adoption of an ordinance amending The Code of Ordinances of the City of Jefferson, Iowa, 2017, by amending provision pertaining to water rates. AYE: Jackson, Sloan, Wetrich, Zmolek, Ahrenholtz NAY: None ORDINANCE NO. 614 On motion by Zmolek, and second by Ahrenholtz, the Council approved the third reading and final adoption of an ordinance amending The Code of Ordinances of the City of Jefferson, Iowa, 2017, by amending provision pertaining to Sewer User Charges. AYE: Zmolek, Wetrich, Sloan, Jackson, Ahrenholtz NAY: None On motion by Sloan, and second by Wetrich, the Council approved the second reading of an ordinance to increase residential landfill fees and sanitation rates. AYE: Sloan, Ahrenholtz Jackson, Wetrich, Zmolek NAY: None Item D was removed from the agenda. The Council held a Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Budget Priority Workshop. No action was taken.
