Beautification Committee Minutes Tuesday, January 20, 2026 Location: In person at Johnson Municipal Building Members (P=Present; A=Absent; R=Remote) Adrienne Parker P OPEN SEAT A Blake Parker P Kyle Nuse P Lauren Phille P Jo Marsan P After Meeting Member Action Items Adrienne ➔ Get beautification on both town and village agendas to speak about the mosaic project at the Cold Spring. ➔ Figure out and order the missing piece for the watering machine we bought. ➔ Update our page on the town website with new mini grant info (coming from Lauren). ➔ Grab planters and wreaths. Blake ➔ Research and put together plant prices/ stats and an outline for flower discussion next meeting. ➔ Grab planters and wreaths. Jo ➔ Go after art grant (Kyle/ Lauren to assist). ➔ Come to next meeting with updated finances. Kyle ➔ Invite Mary to our next meeting to discuss the mosaic project and brainstorm. ➔ Purchase outstanding star and replacement flags for bridge. ➔ Remove xmas items from the Cold Spring and blue lights from Legion Field. Lauren ➔ Adjust mini grant application to revolving, send new socials advertising our new process on FB and front porch. For Next Meeting ● Discuss planting and flowers ● Discuss shed / storage ● Discuss + ideate on Cold Spring mosaic 6:00 | Call to Order & Adjustments Kyle calls the meeting to order at 6:00pm and asks for any additions or adjustments to the agenda, there are none. No public comment and last meetings minutes are approved. 6:10 | Elect Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer Kyle is elected as Chair, Lauren as Vice Chair, Jo as Treasurer and Blake as Secretary. 6:18 | Set 2026 Goals & Budget Planning Session 6:18 Updates to the idea of purchasing main street - Adrienne and Kyle has a meeting with VTrans and they were supportive of the notion - They would give it to us at no cost, however, we would have to maintain the road and that would be a massive undertaking. It is also in the flood zone - Concluded that this is not a priority and is put in the project backlog. 6:25 Grants/ Public Art - Jo to take initiative, grant opens in Feb and Kyle/ Lauren to assist. - Railtrail project confirmed as a priority. They are almost done with the renovations. - Kyle explains Mary Lacey’s work email about a mosaic at the Cold Spring. Possibility of expanding the mosaic tiling around the concrete base of the light poles. Would cost the full grant amount of $1,500. Will need permission from both town and village, need to get on agendas to speak to both. The grant is due March 9th and is open now. This project is noted as a priority. 6:37 Flowers - Talked about adopting planted pots for businesses and needing to set expectations for watering. - Adrienne to figure out the missing piece for the watering machine we bought so that can be used. - Decided we will not be planting live flowers on either of the bridges this year due to the amount of work/ maintenance and poor performance of flowers on covered bridge. - Decided we will fully discuss planting and flowers next meeting. - Blake to research and put together plant prices/ stats and an outline for our discussion. 7:02 Mini Grants - Lauren to adjust mini grant application to a revolving process, removing amounts and dates for completion. - Adrienne to update our page on the town website with update. - Lauren to send new socials advertising our new process. 7:12 Storage - We really need a storage shed to store all beautification items instead of housing them ourselves. - Possibility of going in on a shed with other committees that also need storage. - Discuss more next meeting. - Jo to come to next meeting with updated finances to see where we’re at. 7:18 Winter Decor + Clean-up - Blake and Adrienne to pick up planters and wreaths in the town.  - Kyle to remove Xmas items from the Cold Spring and blue lights from Legion Field. - Lauren to grab Jubilee lights from the Library. - Would love to get electricity to covered bridge for lights and decorations. - Kyle to purchase missing star for bridge. If the current stars continue to blow away we will not replace. - Ask Farm and Garden to donate the lift for us to fix lights on Powerhouse Bridge that will not turn on and to replace tattered flags. Without the 5th crew member unsure if we can have the town crew do this work. - Kyle to purchase replacement flags for bridge. 7:30 | Adjourn
