BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS A meeting of the Board of Public Works was called to order by Chair Thiele on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 6:00 P.M. Members present: Antoine, DeCoster, Eggleston, Kilgas, Moore, Schell, Schumacher, and Thiele. Also present: Mayor Penterman, Attorney Greenwood, DPW/Eng. Neumeier, Com. Enrich. and Rec. Director Vosters, Fire Chief Carrel, HR Director Hodge, Street Superintendent Van Gompel, and interested citizens. 1. Correspondence – none. 2. Discussion Topics. a. Authorization to seek bids for Project 2-26: Wisconsin Avenue Area Utility Relay - Phase 1. The Engineering Department is completing plans for our annual utility relay project with Kaukauna Utilities. The proposed project is in the Wisconsin Avenue to Riverside Park area along Wisconsin Avenue, Idlewild Street, Riverside Drive, and River Street. The project will include replacement of sanitary sewer, water mains, private laterals from the main to the homes, temporary asphalt overlay, and restoration of the affected areas. Motion made by Moore, seconded by Antoine to authorize the Engineering Department to seek bids for Project #2-26, Wisconsin Avenue Area Utility Relay – Phase 1. All Ald. voted aye. Motion carried. b. Update on Sale of used DPW Equipment. Through the process of replacing capital equipment, staff look at all departments and discuss operational needs and constraints to get vehicle replacements on a schedule. With four of the recent replacements, the Street Department listed the replaced equipment on the Wisconsin Surplus auction website. The Fire Department replaced their 30yr old ladder truck which received $10,913 at auction. The Street Department replaced three pieces of equipment that went to auction. Truck #213 a 2009 International Dump Truck sold for $9,650, and Grader #21, a 1991 John Deere, sold for $25,250. The third piece of equipment replaced by the Street Department was an ageing 1999 International Bucket Truck. Instead of looking to purchase new, Kaukauna Utilities was contacted to discuss their replacement schedule and if they had a unit that was up for replacement. Timing was right and the Utility Commission approved to replace the Street Departments 1999 International with their 2006 International for the funds received in the sale of the old truck. $10,675 was received at auction which will be turned over to Kaukauna Utilities. c. Public Works Updates. Street Superintendent Van Gompel and DPW/Eng. Neumeier provided public works updates. Street department staff put up and decorated the Christmas trees at Hydro Park and MSB. Neumeier gave some education from the Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance on best salt practices in the winter. Leaf collection was postponed due to inclement weather and remaining leaves will be picked up if warmer weather returns. 3. Adjourn. Motion made by Moore, seconded by Eggleston to adjourn.
