BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY COUNCIL CHAMBERS-CITY HALL MAY 26, 2020-8:30 A.M. Roll call was answered by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe and Chairman Jim Dazey and Board Member Don Gura. Others present were: Scott Derby, Mark Schultz, Jeremy McKinley, Lance Waters, Scott Mosley, Katie Ritchie, Ryan Alwine and Cindy Marple. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. Minutes The minutes of the May 12, 2020 Board of Public Works and Safety meeting were presented for approval. Board member Don Gura made a motion to approve the minutes with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes- 0 nays. Petitions or Comments No petitions or comments were heard. Clerk-Treasurer Clerk Treasurer Katie Ritchie requested authorization to pay SJRBC in the amount of $2,318.00 for the annual dues. The monies from this will come from the BOW contractual account. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Engineering Drake Road Reconstruction (Section 1) – Progress Report The Drake Road Reconstruction Section 1 progress report was presented for review. Engineering Administrator Scott Derby stated that things were slightly ahead of schedule. Request to pay A&Z Engineering Engineering Administrator Scott Derby requested authorization to pay invoice 20-2174 to A&Z Engineering in the amount of $9,030.84. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Fire Request to pay Fire Service, Inc. Fire Chief Jeremy McKinley requested authorization to pay Fire Service Inc. in the amount of $5,667.96 for services in repairing the hydraulic rotation motor and brake on Tower 10. Board member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. Request to pay Palmer Trucks Fire Chief Jeremy McKinley requested authorization to pay Palmer Trucks in the amount of $3,270.00 for the purchase of one turbocharger for Tank 19. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. WWTP 2020 Budget Superintendent Mark Schultz presented the year to date budget for 2020. Boiler/ Sludge Repair addition Superintendent Mark Schultz is requesting an additional $6,000.00 to his previous request of $4,000.00 to Power Plant Service that was made on March 24, 2020 at the Board of Works meeting. It was later discovered that the O-rings were in need of replacing as well as the boiler/sludge heater. The monies for this will come from account 606.004.620.000. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. The April activity report was presented for review. Water Superintendent Scott Mosley requested authorization to pay Stawser Brothers in the amount of $9,600.00 for concrete work. This is for a parking area at the Drake Road Water Plant and also for an area inside the Diamond Street Water Plant. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Motion to Adjourn Board Member Don Gura made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Chairman Jim Dazey adjourned the meeting at 8:40 A.M. _____________________________________ Kathren R.
