BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY POLICE TRAINING ROOM-CITY HALL AUGUST 11, 2020-8:30 A.M. Roll call was answered by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe and Chairman Jim Dazey and Board Member Don Gura. Others present were: Scott Derby, Steve Garbacz- KPC, Mark Schultz, Jeremy McKinley, Lance Waters, Scott Mosley, Katie Ritchie, and Cindy Marple. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. Minutes The minutes of the July 28, 2020 Board of Public Works and Safety meeting were presented for approval. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve the minutes with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. Petitions or Comments No petitions or comments were heard. Clerk-Treasurer Wage Adjustment- Emily McKinley Clerk Treasurer, Katie Ritchie, requested authorization to give Utility Clerk, Emily McKinley, her second wage adjustment for successfully completing her six months of employment with the City. This will take her hourly wage to $17.84/ hr. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes - 0 nays. Donation of time- Barb Bratt to Kody Forker City Employee, Barb Bratt, donated six hours of paid leave to Fire Fighter, Kody Forker. Approval for the donation of sick time was previously approved at the July 14, 2020 meeting. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 3 ayes - 0 nays. Engineering Drake Road- A&Z Engineering Payment Request # 18 Engineering Administrator Scott Derby requested authorization to pay A&Z Engineering in the amount of $18,861.64 (Local $3,736.33). Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. WWTP Superintendent Mark Schultz approached the Board about implementing the use of their Primary Clarifier Project monies. The project will consist of removing six old scum skimmers and installation six new ones, removing of 12 old valves and installation of new ones and the related water piping. This project is not to exceed the $54,000.00 that was approved in the 2020 Budget. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes - 0 nays. Water Superintendent Scott Mosley requested authorization to proceed with a valve replacement from a water main/service break that happened Thursday, August 6, 2020. The valve is a 12 inch valve and the project is not to exceed $18,500.00. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes - 0 nays. Motion to Adjourn Board Member Don Gura made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Chairman Jim Dazey adjourned the meeting at 8:41 A.M. _____________________________________ Kathren R.
