BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/3333856007650427662 FEBRUARY 9, 2021-8:30 A.M. Roll call was answered by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe and Chairman Jim Dazey and Board Member Don Gura. Others present were: Scott Derby, Katie Ritchie, Cindy Marple, Lance Waters, Jeremy McKinley, Rick Kiersey, Jim Pankop, Mark Schultz, Scott Mosley, and Steve Garbacz-KPC. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. Minutes The minutes of the January 26, 2021 Board of Public Works and Safety meeting were presented for approval. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve the minutes with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. Petitions or Comments No petitions or comments were given. Clerk-Treasurer Request to pay Otis Signature Service Clerk Treasurer, Katie Ritchie, requested authorization to pay invoice #100400233293 to Otis Signature Service in the amount of $6,283.27. This is for the service contract from 2/1/21 to 1/31/22 for the elevator located in City Hall. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Fire Conditional offer of employment Fire Chief Jeremy McKinley requested authorization to give Robert Issacs a conditional offer of full time employment pending his acceptance to the physical exam and admittance to the State Police Pension Board. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Police Request authorization to purchase new, updated door control system for City Hall Chief of Police Lance Waters requested authorization to purchase a new door control system from Insight in the amount of $3,007.21. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Request authorization to repair Commission #4, 2015 Ford Explorer Chief of Police Lance Waters requested authorization to repair Commission #4, a 2015 Ford Explorer. The repairs and labor total $2,981.04 from Max Platt Ford and is invoice #91334. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Request authorization to hire Randy Davis as part-time Crossing Guard Chief of Police Lance Waters requested authorization to hire Randy Davis as a part-time Crossing Guard. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Request authorization to pay invoice from Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Chief of Police Lance Waters requested authorization to pay the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in the amount of $2,180.00. The money for this will be paid from the LECE fund. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. WWTP Request to pay Wessler Engineering Superintendent Mark Schultz requested authorization to pay Wessler Engineering in the amount of $2,365.00. The money for this will come from account 606003631.000. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Request to contract with Granite Inliner to complete sewer lining project Superintendent Mark Schultz requested authorization to have the sewer lining project approved with Granite Inliner. There is $125,000 budgeted in the Capital Improvement Collections System for this project. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Requset to have S&L Home Improvement install new siding Superintendent Mark Schultz requested authorization to have S&L Home Improvement install new siding on the Lab/Administrative building. The money for this project will come from the Capital Improvement Account. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Water Request to purchase a 2021 Service Truck Superintendent Scott Mosley requested authorization to purchase a 2021 Dodge Ram 2500 Service Truck from Shepherd’s Dodge in the amount of $26,267.00. This will replace a 2021 service truck in the Water Department fleet. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays.
