BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY COUNCIL CHAMBERS JULY 12, 2022-8:30 A.M. Roll call was answered by: Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Chairman Jim Dazey, and Board Member Don Gura. Others present were: Scott Mosley, Brian Strange, Mark Schultz, Chad McKinley, Steve Garbacz- KPC, Matt Riehm, Lance Waters, Katie Ritchie, Kristen Johnson, Tara Streb, and Jeremy McKinley. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. Minutes Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve the Board of Works minutes from the June 28, 2022 meeting with a second from Mayor Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Petitions No petitions or comments were given. Mayor Application for the Use of Public Facilities- Main Street Vintage Market Kristen Johnson, Main Street Manager, requested the use of public facilities on Main Street between Mitchell & Rush Streets, plus West Rush from Main Street to alley for the Main Street Vintage Market. This event will be held on October 1st and 2nd, 2022 from 9:00 A.M. through 4:00 P.M. The event will consist of craft and food vendors. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Clerk-Treasurer Clerk Treasurer Katie Ritchie requested authorization to pay invoice 0542301 to Boyce Systems in the amount of $12,840.00. This invoice will be split evenly between the General Fund, Water, and WWTP accounts. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Engineering Next Level Trails Project- Change Order #1 Next Level Trails Change Order #1 was presented for review showing an increase of $37,390.12. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve the change order with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Next Level Trails Project- Pay Application #1 Next Level Trails Project Pay Application #1 in the amount of $618,341.58 was presented for review. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Drake Road Phase 2 PE- Invoice # 15 Administrative Engineer Scott Derby requested to pay Pay Request #15 in the amount of $11,535.49 (Federal $9,228.39 & Local $2,307.10) to A&Z Engineering. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Police Request for Authorization for Conditional Offer of Employment- Brandon Cox Chief of Police Lance Waters asked to table this request as he has not heard a response back from Mr. Cox on employment. Request for Authorization for Hire Probation Dispatcher: Misty Pegan Chief of Police Lance Waters requested authorization to hire Misty Pegan as a Probationary Dispatcher. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Extension of Time to Use Vacation Days for Sgt. Dixon Chief of Police Lance Waters requested authorization to extend Sgt. Dixon’s remaining seven vacation days past his anniversary date of July 27th. Sgt. Dixon will use his remaining seven days during fall break October 3-7, 2022. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. WWTP Request to Pay WET Environmental Engineering, LLC. Superintendent Mark Schultz presented invoice 10052 from Wet Environmental Engineering in the amount of $17,500.00 for the natural fish kill clean up that occurred in May. Superintendent Schultz asked for the Board of Works to pay this from the Contractual Account. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Motion to Adjourn Board Member Don Gura made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
