BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY COUNCIL CHAMBERS June 27, 2023-8:30 A.M. Roll call was answered by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Chairman Jim Dazey and Board Member Don Gura. Others present were: Brandy Roberts, Scott Mosley, Jeremy McKinley, Scott Derby, Lance Waters, Dave Lange, Pat Howell, Cindy Marple, Kristen Johnson, Susan Jansen, Aaron Carl and Sheryl Prentice-KPC News. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. Minutes The minutes of the June 13, 2023 Board of Public Works and Safety meeting were presented for approval. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve the minutes with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. Petitions or Comments There were no petitions or comments Mayor Application for use of Public Facilities-Pocket Park Art Installation Kristen Johnson submitted an application for use of public facilities for a ceremony to celebrate the installation of two metal sculptures in the pocket park. It would be held on Friday July 28, 2023 from 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M at the Pocket Park. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. Clerk-Treasurer Request to pay Dale Rogers Studio Clerk Treasurer Katie Ritchie requested authorization to pay Dale Rogers Studio $28,890.00. This is for the two metal sculptures that were done and set in the Pocket Park. This will be paid out of the City Beautification Pocket Park fund and is donated money from the Rotary Club and the Ramer Family. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. Engineering Request for Hendrickson Loading Dock Expansion Aaron Carl from TE Incorporated spoke on behalf of Hendrickson to ask for approval to extend a loading dock ten (10) feet into the right of way at the Production Road location to allow for easier and safer truck movements at the facility. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. Fire Request to Pay Chief Jeremy McKinley requested authorization to pay Invoice 7515 to 1st Response Fleet Service in the amount of $ 5,516.58. This is for performing all the required annual NFPA standard pump tests as well as all DOT maintenance for all apparatus. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. WWTP Request to Pay Interim Superintendent Patrick Howell requested authorization to pay Invoice 10023-6 to Wet Environmental Engineering in the amount of $ 7,265.00 for engineering and operator consulting services for the month of May. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Request to Pay Interim Superintendent Patrick Howell requested authorization to pay MacAllister Rentals $ 5,978.00 for rental of a shoring box that was used in the repair of a sewer line on South Morton Street. The monies would come out of the Line Maintenance account 6201-002620.000. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Request to Purchase Interim Superintendent Patrick Howell requested to purchase handrails in the amount of $ 25,000.00 from Noble Industrial Fabrication. This is part of an EPA Compliance request for handrails to be fabricated and installed around two clarifying tanks. Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Water The May 2023 Financial Report was presented for review. Motion to Adjourn Board Member Don Gura made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
