COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
The City Council of the City of Knoxville, Iowa convened in a work session on Monday,
August 15, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. in the Municipal Building council chambers. Mayor Brian Hatch
presided and the following Council members were present: John Gotta, Dylan Morse, Dawn
Rankin, Jyl DeJong and Megan Suhr. The following staff members were present: City Manager
Heather Ussery and Police Chief Aaron Fuller.
City Council and staff had a discussion in regards to the staffing at city hall as well as the
Police Department. With the recent vacancy of the City Clerk, council discussed the potential of
hiring additional staff to assist with segregation of duties and responsibilities. City Manager
Ussery provided a recommendation to transition the current part time administrative assistant to
a full-time Deputy City Clerk. Council and staff also discussed the current CSO/Record Clerk
position at the Police Department. Chief Fuller provided a recommendation to shift the position
to a full-time CSO and a full-time Records Clerk. Council requested staff to bring back financial
information associated with these changes as well as a pay range and job description for the new
Records Clerk position.
Motion by DeJong; seconded by Rankin to adjourn at 6:10 p.m., all ayes.
