July 3, 2023
The City Council of the City of Knoxville, Iowa, convened in regular session Monday, July 3,
2023, at 6:15 p.m. at the Knoxville Municipal Building Council Chambers. Mayor Hatch
presided and the following Council Members were present: Megan Suhr, John Gotta, and Dylan
Morse. Council Members, Dawn Rankin and Jyl DeJong were absent. Staffs present were City
Manager, Heather Ussery; City Clerk, Jodie Wyman; Fire Chief, Cal Wyman; Police Chief,
Aaron Fuller; and Planning and Zoning Director, Nathan Parch.
Motion by Morse, seconded by Gotta to approve consent agenda; all ayes.

3. Approve Residential and Commercial Garbage Hauler License for Garbage Guys

Mayor Hatch administered the oath of office to Lieutenant, Travis Delaney.

Motion by Suhr, seconded by Morse to approve a service contract between the City of
Knoxville, Iowa, and VK Building Inspection Services. The motion passed all ayes.

Mayor Hatch: Hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July. The fireworks display will be in
the evening and everyone is invited to come watch.
City Manager Ussery: Pleased to announce that 225 E Main was awarded the Catalyst Grant
from IEDA. Thrive and the Police Reserves are hosting a pancake breakfast from 8-10 am at the
fire station.
Fire Chief Wyman: Happy 4th of July to everyone. Hope that everyone has a fun, safe holiday.
Police Chief Fuller: Have a safe 4th of July. The 5K run starts at 8:00 am, to be followed by the
bike parade at 10:30. Happy to have Jordon on board. We will be having an open house for
Chris Rowland’s retirement on July 14th at the Library from 1-3 p.m.
