KOHLER PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MEETING Wednesday August 15, 2023 Present: Erin Coppersmith, Librarian John Multer, Secretary Megan Drevline, President Lisa Greene, Kohler Schools Nicole Witwer Kya Diehl Absent: Michael Wandschneider Eileen Hilke,Vice President The meeting was called to order at 3:30 by Megan. Public Comment Megan received a comment that the library logo is offensive. The person associated the logo with LGBT and pedophiles. Megan explained that the logo has been in use for several years and shows the spines of books and was designed to show the wide range of materials available in the library. The board discussed this issue and agreed not to change the logo. Minutes of the May 3 meeting were approved Invoices for May, June, and July were approved. Library/School: The school does not want students to use the library restroom. Lisa expects the classroom to be available during school hours. Erin raised several issues: 1. Inside door is not handicapped accessible or secure. 2. Construction workers are propping open door (security issue) 3. Erin asked how to report technical problems. 4. The library should not be used as a study hall Lisa will take care of these issues. Library Policies Tutors may use meeting room if available, but cannot reserve the room. Changes to meeting room policies will be voted on next month. New Business Nicole reported that 82 books were redeemed in the book machine. Erin reported that summer attendance and circulation were huge. The meeting was adjourned at 4:01. The next meeting will be September 6 at 3:30. Respectfully Submitted John Multer
