Village of Kohler Planning Commission October 12, 2023 Chairperson Thomas Schnettler called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. Roll call was taken: Tom Schnettler, Jay Hoekstra, Lee Gumm, Mike Wandschneider, TJ Kramer and Paul Bonack were present. Mike Zimmermann was absent. Staff members present: Mike Kitzerow and Cindi Gamb. Approval of Meeting Minutes from August 10, 2023 – Motion by Jay Hoekstra, second by Mike Wandschneider to approve the meeting minutes from August 10, 2023. Motion carried. Public comment – none. Business 1. Request from David O’Keefe, 512 East Riverside Drive, for a building permit for a new shed – the shed meets all village setbacks and has been approved by the Kohler Co. Residential Review Committee. The new shed will be in the same location as the old shed. Motion by Tom Schnettler, second by TJ Kramer to approve the request from David O’Keefe, 512 East Riverside Drive, for a building permit for a new shed. Motion carried. 2. Request from Robert & Caitlin McNitt, 410 Green Tree Road, for a building permit for a shed – shed had a metal roof and was changed to asphalt shingles. Shed will be a garden/play structure, not for a business. All village codes have been met and Kohler Co. Residential Review Committee has approved. Motion by Mike Wandschneider, second by Tom Schnettler to approve the request Robert & Caitlin McNitt, 410 Green Tree Road, for a building permit for a shed. Motion carried. 3. Request from Matt and Jen Desplinter for a building permit for a new home on Lot 59 in The Clearings subdivision – building plans were submitted and meet all building codes. There is a small fence included in the plan around the garden. The fence is 36-inches tall, which complies with village code. Plans have been approved by Kohler Co. Residential Review Committee. Motion by Jay Hoekstra, second by Lee Gumm to approve the request from Matt and Jen Desplinter for a building permit for a new home on Lot 59 in The Clearings subdivision. Motion carried. 4. Request from Kohler Co. for approval and building permit for signage at Shops at Woodlake – the wall behind the Shops at Woodlake is being replaced. The signs are temporary and will be up during construction. Motion by TJ Kramer, second by Paul Bonack to approve the request from Kohler Co. for approval and building permit for temporary signage at Shops at Woodlake. Motion carried.  5. Request from Johnson Financial Group for a building permit for new signage – Johnson Bank will now be Johnson Financial Group. The new signs will be in the same location as the current signs. Motion by Lee Gumm, second by Paul Bonack to recommend the Village Board approve the request from Johnson Financial Group for a building permit for new signage. Motion carried. 6. Request from Creative Sign Company for a building permit for new signage at Sierra store – new store moving into Deer Trace. Motion by Tom Schnettler, second by Mike Wandschneider to recommend the Village Board approve the request from Creative Sign Company for a building permit for new signage at Sierra store. Motion carried. 7. Request from Sierra, 4031 State Highway 28, for a building permit for new storefront, structural framing and interior remodeling – building permit is just for the storefront; interior plans still need state approval. Motion by Tom Schnettler, second by Mike Wandschneider to recommend the Village Board approve the request from Sierra, 4031 State Highway 28, for a building permit for new storefront. Motion carried.
