Planning Commission

Village of Kohler Planning Commission March 14, 2024 Chairperson Thomas Schnettler called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. Roll call was taken: Tom Schnettler, Lee Gumm, Mike Wandschneider, Thomas Kramer, Mike Zimmermann and Paul Bonack were present. Jay Hoekstra was absent. Staff members present: Mike Kitzerow and Laurie Lindow. Approval of Meeting Minutes from January 11, 2024 – Motion by Mike Zimmermann, second by Mike Wandschneider to approve the meeting minutes from January 11, 2024. Motion carried. Public comment – none. Business 1. Review and take action on certified survey map for property located in Section 24, Town of Sheboygan Falls, under extraterritorial plat approval jurisdiction – Motion by Tom Schnettler, second by Lee Gumm to approve certified survey map for property located in Section 24, Town of Sheboygan Falls as presented, under extraterritorial plat approval jurisdiction. Motion carried. 2. Request for temporary signs advertising the Kohler Middle School Musical at the school parking lot – Kerstin Brandemuhl, owner of FASTSIGNS, is donating signage to advertise the Kohler Middle School Musical. Proposed signage would include a 96” x 36” banner to be placed on the school playground fence and a 48” x 36” yard sign in the median of the school parking lot near the building. The signs would be up from March 15 through April 14, 2024. Tom Schnettler explained that there is a policy in place for Mike Kitzerow to approve temporary signs that have been approved by the commission previously if there was no change to the sign or location. Motion by Lee Gumm, second by Mike Wandschneider to approve the request for temporary signs advertising the Kohler Middle School Musical as presented. Motion carried, but not unanimously. 3. Request from Mary Jo McBrearty & Bob Fowler for a building permit for a new home on Lot 72 in The Clearings subdivision - The proposed home meets setbacks and village code and was approved by the Kohler Co. Residential Review Committee. Motion by Mike Zimmermann, second by Thomas Kramer to approve request from Mary Jo McBrearty & Bob Fowler for a building permit for a new home on Lot 72 in The Clearings subdivision. Motion carried. 4. Request from Kohler School District for baseball wind screens – The Kohler School District is requesting approval to install windscreens with logos at Ebben Field on the baseball home run fence that borders Greenfield Drive. The proposed windscreens will be the same product, color and material as the  windscreens on the tennis courts from Keeper Goals. The proposed logo lettering is the same format, font, and coloring as the tennis courts logos which are located on the inside of the field. Motion by Tom Schnettler, second by Mike Wandschneider to recommend Village Board approve request from Kohler School District for baseball wind screens as presented. Motion carried.
