POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES June 23, 2025 at 5:00 PM Kronenwetter Municipal Center - 1582 Kronenwetter Dr., Kronenwetter, WI Room C110 (Fire Department Training Room) 1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER President Schemmel called the June 23, 2025 Police and Fire Commission meeting to order at 5 p.m. A. Pledge of Allegiance Those in attendance recited the Pledge of Allegiance. B. Roll Call PRESENT: President Doug Schemmel, Commissioner Lucene Udulutch, and Commissioner Rick Smith. STAFF: Fire Chief Theresa O’Brien, EMS Coordinator Alexa Kufalk, and Clerk Dianne Drew. ABSENT/EXCUSED: Commissioner Chet Rucinski and Commissioner David Forsythe. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES C. Approve June 10, 2025 meeting minutes. Motion by Smith/Udulutch to approve the 06/10/2025 meeting minutes and dispense with the reading. Voting Aye: President Schemmel, Commissioner Udulutch, Commissioner Smith. 3. ANNOUNCEMENT OF CLOSED SESSION 4. PUBLIC COMMENT None. 5. CLOSED SESSION Motion by Smith/Udulutch to convene into closed session pursuant to Wis. Stat. 19.85 (1)( c ) for consideration of employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility – to wit Fire Department applicant. Voting Aye: Commissioner Udulutch, Commissioner Smith, President Schemmel. Time: 5:03 p.m. Chief O’Brien and EMS Coordinator Kufalk were invited into closed session. 6. RECONVENE OPEN SESSION Motion by Smith/Udulutch to reconvene into open session. Voting Aye: Commissioner Smith, President Schemmel, Commissioner Udulutch. Time: 5:25 p.m. 7. ACTION AFTER CLOSED SESSION Motion made by Udulutch/Smith to continue Brennan Weitzel in the fire department hiring process. Voting Yea: President Schemmel, Commissioner Udulutch, Commissioner Smith. 8. NEW BUSINESS E. Motion by Udulutch/Smith to accept Fire Chief O’Brien’s recommendation of full membership in the Kronenwetter Fire Department for Hannah Nechuta and Olivia Stone, after completion of their probationary periods. Voting Aye: Commissioner Udulutch, Commissioner Smith, President Schemmel. F. Discussion regarding possible changes to the Selection Process for Hiring Fire Department Members requested by the Fire Chief. Commissioners requested the Fire Chief bring requested language for their consideration to a future meeting. Fire Chief will also discuss revisions to fillable employment application format with fire department and/or village staff. No action taken. 9. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Udulutch/Smith to adjourn the June 23, 2025 Police and Fire Commission meeting. Voting Aye: President Schemmel, Commissioner Udulutch, Commissioner Smith.
