OLD TOWN LA VERNE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTIRICT MINUTES OF THE RBGULAR MEETING Monday, January 6,2020 l. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Craig Walters at 8:32 a.m. Advisory Board Members present: Craig Walters, Chris Gendreau, Micky Rehm, Jason Miller and Matt Forgey. Advisory Board Members absent: Marianne Stark. City Representatives present: Community Development Director Eric Scherer and Administrative Clerk Natalie Hiatt. 2 APPROVAL F MINUTES - December 2,2019 It was moved by Chairperson Chris Gendreau and seconded by Micky Rehm to approve the minutes of the December 2,2019 meeting as submitted. Motion carried by a 5-0 vote 3. CALENDAR Mr. Gendreau announced the sub-committee for the SGV Open Street Event is scheduled to meet at Chase's on Wednesday, January 8that 10:00 a'm. 4. NEW B SINESS A. Holiday Stroll Recap - Ms. Rehm stated that Santa Claus was moved indoors and the band did not perform due to the weather. Mr. Forgey suggested a business decorating contest to encourage participation next year. Ms. Rehm stated the decorations are removed by Public Works the Monday after New Year's Day. 5. CONTINUED BUSINESS A. Annual Meeting - Mr. Scherer announced the EDR off The Spot Caf6 at Citrus Hall was secured for the Annual Meeting. Invitations are being sent to the 6 City Council Candidates and 3 Mayoral Candidates. The meeting will include a candidate introduction, Tax Measure presentation by City Manager Bob Russi, and a University of La Verne presentation by Jason Miller. Additional updates will be provided for the Gold Line project, phase-two tree lights, and SGV Open Street Event. 6, COMMITTEE REPORTSruPDATES City Report - Eric Scherer Mr. Scherer stated the City is hosting a Candidate's Forum on February 13th at the Community Center. University of La Verne Report - Jason Miller None Marketing - Micky Rehm Mr. Gendreau stated that Mr. Kostuma approached him with an opportunity to advertise in Magazine of Values. Ms. Rehm stated the spring mailing will include an advertisement for Wine Walk. She also received a quote from Active Signs for pole banners at $95.O0/each including hardware. Mr. Walters suggested scheduling a marketing meeting to discuss the year. The meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, January l5th 8:30 a.m. at Micky's Jewelry Studio. Chamber of Commerce Report - Leah Skinner Ms. Skinner announced upcoming events. The Chamber is hosting the Excellence of La Verne Business Awards on Januiry 22"d at Sierra La Verne Country Club. Hillcrest is hosting an ADA presentation on February 1lth at 7:30 a.m' Ms. Skinner's administrative assistant resigned. Julie Griffith, previously with David and Margaret, will be joining the Chamber of Commerce staff. Social Media Update - MickY Rehm None Financial Report - Mr. Scherer stated the six month figures will be released by the end of January. Mr. Walters called for volunteers to form a Budget Committee. Mr. Gendreau, Ms. Rehm, and Mr. Walters volunteered. 7.
