OLD TOWN LA VERNE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTIRICT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING Monday, March 212020 1. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Craig Walters at 8:31 a.m. Advisory Board Members present: Craig Walters, Chris Gendreau, Micky Rehm, Jason Miller and Matt Forgey. Advisory Board Members absent: Marianne Stark. City Representatives present: Community Development Director Eric Scherer and Administrative Clerk Natalie Hiatt. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - January 6,2020 and February 3,2020 It was moved by Mr. Walters and seconded by Mr. Gendreau to approve the minutes of January 6,2020 and February 3,2020 the meeting as submitted. Motion carried by a 4-0 vote (Mr. Forgery arrived after vote). 3. CALENDAR Cool Cruise - Mr. Scherer the stated the Cool Cruise contract is open for review for the remaining year of the contract. It will be presented to the promoter to move Cruisin' La Verne to Saturday, November 21't (weekend before Thanksgiving) to avoid a conflict with Shop Small Saturday. SGV Open Street Event - Mr. Gendreau stated the next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 1lth. 4. NEW BUSINESS A. Budget Overview - Mr. Scherer stated that the revenue difference was due to the Beer Walk not being as successful. The street lights were kept in the budget for next year with a focus on Third Street. Verizon expected to begin construction at Mainiero Square beginning of summer. The Holiday Stroll budget increased due to tree decorating and lighting. It was by moved by Mr. Miller and seconded by Ms. Rehm to approve the budget and recommend approval by the City Council. Motion carried by a 5-0 vote. B. Cool Cruise Request- Mr. Scherer stated that competing food vendors would not be allowed at the event. 5. CONTINUED BUSINESS A. Wine Walk Update - Mr. Walters stated the website went live on March 1't. Tickets are also available for purchase at Micky's and City Hall. The Kentucky Derby theme is "We're off to the Races". Post card estimated delivery is April 1tt. Ms. Rehm suggested the hat theme be promoted on social media. 6. COMMITTEE REPORTSruPDATES City Report - Eric Scherer Mr. Scherer stated that Kohl's is downsizing to a smaller space and a grocery store would occupy the empty space. The name of the glocery store has not been released yet. An application was received by Chuze Fitness for the space previously occupied by Osh. Proposed facility will include pool, spa, movie theater, kids center and juice bar. The appiication will be presented to flanning Commission on March 1lft. The Gold Line is estimated to complete extension in2025 with a possibility for delay if the line extends further. University of La Verne Report - Jason Miller Mr. Miller stated that there are no major construction projects to report but there is an upcoming discussion for the development of the packing house. Marketing - Micky Rehm Ms. Rehm requested ads for the Wine Walk. Chamber of Commerce Report - Leah Skinner Ms. Skinner announced the following promotions: The Shop La Verne Mastercard gift card to be used at participating businesses. The "Shop La Verne, Save the World" event to be held on July I lth and partnered with a global non-profit.
