ADJOURNMENT – Monday October 3, 2022 at 8:30 am at 2316 D St. (Cafe Wang) OLD TOWN LA VERNE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING Monday, July 11, 2022 1. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Craig Walters at 8:32 a.m. Advisory Board Members present: Craig Walters, Micky Rehm, and Zuhey Espinoza. City Representative present: Community Development Director Eric Scherer and Secretary Natalie Hiatt. Others present: Fang Wang, Ken Valmonte, and Hal Fredericksen. 2. CALENDAR Beer Walk – Saturday, October 15, 2022 3. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES It was moved by Ms. Rehm and seconded by Ms. Espinoza to approve the minutes of April 4, 2022; May 2, 2022; and June 6, 2022. Motion carried by a 3-0 vote. 4. NEW BUSINESS A. Car Show Agreement – Chairperson Walters stated that the previous 2 year contract was extended due to the pandemic. Mr. Scherer stated that the promoter was contacted to negotiate a new contract. Mr. Hoelzel is requesting the BID pays for the following items: Traffic control plan (estimated cost $6,000), removal of the $750 Reserve Police Officer donation, the banner at a cost of (estimated cost $1,000). There was discussion between the board members and they agreed that the BID would not pay for the banner or provide cars at the corners. Mr. Scherer stated that no official vote would be taken at this time. Mr. Scherer will discuss with Mr. Hoelzel further. B. Board Vacancy – Mr. Scherer stated that the Board vacancy is still open and no applications have been received. 5. CONTINUED BUSINESS A. Beer Walk – Ms. Rehm stated that there are already 18 participants and Russ of La Verne Brewing is helping coordinate the breweries. Ms. Rehm recommended portable restrooms be provided. Mr. Scherer stated that construction at Mainiero Square is expected to be done in time. He discussed a re-dedication ceremony and possibly re-naming the square. Ms. Zuhey said she would discuss a possible name change with President Lieberman or Avo Kechichian. 1 6. COMMITTEE REPORTS/ UPDATES A. City Report (Eric Scherer): None B. City Representative present: Community Development Director Eric Scherer. Others present: Fang Wang, Ken Valmonte and Krista Chakmak. As there was no quorum, no official business was conducted. There was general discussion about the Beer Walk event.
