LA VERNE YOUTH & FAMILY ACTION COMMITTEE Minutes of the Regular Meeting November 16, 2021 1. A meeting of the Youth & Family Action Committee was called to order by Chair Robin Carder at 6:30 p.m. 2. Executive Board Members present: Executive Board Robin Carder, Chair – Council Member Rick Crosby, Vice Chair – Council Member Greg Palatto - BUSD Denise Fisher - Resident Don Kendrick, Resident Donna Redman, Resident Mark Rodgers, BUSD Sam Gonzalez, LVPD Hollie Savage, LVPD JR Ranells, City of La Verne Alfie Sanchez, Majestic Cycling/Kiwanis International 3. Review of Minutes Minutes for the October 26, 2021, meeting were approved. 4. School Resource Officer Lieutenant Sam Gonzalez with the La Verne Police Department provided the SRO report noting recent activity with vape pens. Lieutenant also shared that the department was preparing for the upcoming holiday season and other special events. 5. Bike Give Away Event JR Ranells with the City shared that the giveaway event would now be held at the Police Department for convenience and practical reasons. The group determined that December 15th would be the best evening to host the event. 6. Executive Board Vacancies JR Ranells with the City reported that there had only been one application received by the City Clerk to fulfill the remaining term on the Executive Board (through June 2022). The application was from Don Kendrick. The Executive Board unanimously voted to recommend to the City Council, Don Kendrick to fulfill the vacant term and to reappoint Denise Fisher for a new two year term. 10. Next Meeting The next YFAC meeting was scheduled for January 25, 2022. Youth & Family Action Committee Minutes November 16, 2021, page 2 11.
