Laconia Public Library Board of Trustees Minutes of Meeting July 12, 2017 Volpe Conference Room Call to Order: Laconia Public Library Board of Trustees held their regular monthly meeting in Volpe Conference Room. Chairman John Moriarty called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Present: James Anderson; Kimberly Danosi, John Perley, Liz Rosenfeld, alternate Bruce Kneuer; and Director Randy Brough. Not Present: Marie Bradley; alternates Linda Phelps; Nadine Jordan and City Council Liaison Brenda Baer. Trustee Glenn Smith has resigned. In the past month, two full time veteran LPL Staff have left. Jamie Dalton worked 22 years at the library, beginning as a page, leaving as a Library Tech. Loraine Murray has been Teen Librarian since last fall. The Board and Director discussed the needs and direction of the library in order to maximize the opportunity to replenish library staff. Included in the discussion was an evaluation of library STEM programming. Moving forward, focus will be on programs that encourage discovery and offer enrichment. New staff should be outgoing, enthusiastic, innovative and have a sense of curiosity. Social media accounts of candidates will be vetted. Library has been asked to become a sponsor of Celebrate Laconia, a non-profit organization established to celebrate 125th anniversary of the City of Laconia in 2018. Consensus of Board was to not participate financially at this time. Meeting adjourned at 7:30pm. On a motion by Anderson. Seconded by Perley. Respectfully submitted,
