Review of Departmental Presentations:
Mike Foote stated that when he asked DPW if they had anything in order of importance there was
no clear answer. Brandee Loughlin will get that information.
Bill Contardo stated that they are putting in $80k for portables and they are going to tie in to our
system and asked how that would impact us. Bob Hamel stated that the said it would be like a
repeater and if another dept was in that area it could grab on to it. Paul Lambert stated that if it is a
microwave it is a designated frequency, if anyone is in the area we do want then to be able to tap in
to our frequency. Paul Lambert thought we had already approved a lot of portables a few years ago
and that was for the FD. He would like to know what they did get. Bob Hamel stated it is in this
year’s budget 16/17 to get them. So what we are doing now is for 17/18. Brandee Loughlin stated
they asked for $100k and the council allowed $60k for the FD. Bill Contardo asked if they asked if
additional money was requested over and above the $480. Paul Lambert said yes, for the console
that will be the LPD console. Fire depends on Mutual Aid console. Bob Hamel said that everything
the FD has is by portables and mutual aid at the State School. Bill Contardo asked what the
additional money was for. Bob Hamel stated that they would need a console to transmit because
the one they have is not going to be able to be serviced much longer. Paul Lambert hopes that they
will be able to receive pictures and text messages while in the field from the public to the PD. Bob
Hamel said he will ask the PD if that any be available.
Gail Denio said under fire it is with the police as it is with the two of them. Bill Contardo asked how it
was chosen to be on the FD side. Brandee Loughlin said it is because they are the lead on the grant
under Kirks Beattie’s name. Paul Lambert questioned the $540k for a pumper truck. Hamilton
McLean said that is why he brought up sharing with Gilford and or Belmont because they use our
equipment. Discussion was held on coverage of the towns. Bob Hamel said if there is a structure
fire those two communities come to cover ours by an agreement with the Fire Chiefs. This would
take place under mutual aid. Gilford saves a lot of money by not staffing their station with more than
three people at a time.

closed the session.
