Laconia Conservation Commission Meeting Minutes- July 5, 2023 Meeting called to order at 6:02pm. Roll call: Dean Anson, Deb Williams, Mike Foote, Stacy Soucie, Bob Harrington Salute to the Flag. New Business: Presentation from Tom Selling and Kevin Aherst for Weirs Beach Glamping. Commission had not received the information packet on this project. Project is on 28.5 acres on Weirs Blvd. across from Sun Valley cottages. There will be 40 year- round geo-domes, short term rentals, set on decks, each 18’ high. In the center will be a main geo building, 70’ in diameter and 35’ tall. They plan to work with sewer pipes that are already on site. On the roadside of the property there will be 10-12 condos. Above 600’ of elevation there is no water supply, they will need a pumphouse with a well. The board saw the large plan that Mr. Selling brought with him. The property sits on steep slopes, so a waiver is needed. Con. Comm. questions include; where will water be discharged? Will the domes be phased in? There will be mini-spilts in each dome for heat. Stacy asked about fire engine turnarounds- they will have cul- d-sacs to accommodate them. Stacy asked about terrain alterations that might keep water flow from the wetlands. Will the wetlands dry up? Mike brought up Langley Cove issues that this project should keep in mind. Tom Selling said they won’t change the amount of run-off just slow it down. But the run-off could change where it runs. Mike asks about snow storage. The full plans are with Kalena. Tom will plan to come back at our Aug. 2nd meeting. Old Business: We reviewed minutes from June 28, 2023, and voted to accept them. Mike moved to accept minutes and Bob H. seconded. Dean said that Kalena has informed him that not all of our minutes have been approved this year. We will look at them at our next meeting. Dean and Deb did trib. sampling on June 29th. It went well. There was a discussion about changing one of the testing sites that is dangerous. It should be included in deep water testing, done from a boat. Maybe we should add Black Brook at Union Ave. again. Bob reported that the Taylor Community has cut back some of their bittersweet. They have top dressed seedling plants with mulch. We are still looking for a Lake Host for weekends on Opechee.
