Laconia Conservation Commission Meeting Minutes- Jan.3, 2024 Meeting called to order: 6:01pm Roll Call: Dean Anson, Mike Foote, Bob Harrington, Deb Williams, Gail Ober Staff in Attendance: none Salute to Flag New Business: Presentation of proposed project on 32 Chapin Terrace. Owner is Kevin Shaw. Presenters are Phil Brouillard and Lou Tomiscello. They explained they needed 4 variances for the project, which were approved. They are taking down the old cottage and building a two story house, close to the same footprint. DES had them move the new house 4 feet back from lake. Lot is very small. The driveway goes through city property by the pumphouse, and also on abutter’s property. Abutters are agreeable to this. The height of the building will be 35’. There is a retaining wall on the lakeside. They will leave the lakeside deck as is. Our recommendations for the property include: Silt socks and silt fences around building site; planting low-bush blueberries on the lakeside by the retaining wall; no herbicides and fertilizer used on property. Rob Mora will be the city’s new planner. He will start on Jan. 22. Acceptance of Minutes from Previous meetings: Acceptance of meeting minutes from Dec. 6, 2023. Mike F. motioned for acceptance. Bob H. seconded. All voted to accept, unanimous. Old Business: Dean A. talked about updating the City of Laconia builders’ resource guide that Lisa M. had given us at our last meeting. We agreed to look at it at our next meeting. We reviewed the letter that Dean A. has drafted to the City Council. Deb W. suggested adding vernal pools protection to our goals. Dean A. has been up to Prescott Farm to see their new building. The project was major- new drainage, new septic, solar panels. We discussed having a tour and Con. Comm. meeting at their new building in the future. Mike F. motioned to adjourn meeting. Deb W. seconded motion. All agreed.
