CITY OF LACONIA DOWNTOWN TIF ADVISORY BOARD Monday, July 18th, 2022 - 8:30 AM City Hall - Conference Room 200A Draft Minutes 7/18/2022 - Minutes 1. Call to Order T Chair: B. Neal called the meeting to order at 8:30. 2. Roll Call The following members were present: Chris Condodemetraky, Breanna Neal, Charlie St. Clair, and Rob F Mora. 3. Recording Secretary R. Mora A 4. Staff in Attendance R. Mora R 5. Acceptance of Minutes from Previous Meetings Chair B. Neal: Asked if everyone had a chance to review the minutes and if anyone had any suggested changes. No one requested any changes. D Chair B. Neal: Accepted the minutes as presented. 6. Police Department Camera Presentation Chief Matt Canfield from the Laconia Police Department discusses how the city will be looking to move forward with cameras in the future. He discussed that they are still in the research phase and have a contractor to analyze the city and detail where cameras should be placed and the type of camera used. Highlighting that any system the city looks to use will be upgradeable and expandable. The board discusses the current climate downtown and that some business owners feel unsafe and are worried that they could be burglarized. Chief Canfield highlights that any system they get should have cameras at some more significant intersections and provide a greater line of sight through the downtown area. This information should help the PD reduce response times and allow their dispatch to better monitor the situations as they should have camera feeds with any new system. Business lighting was also discussed as a way to help combat some of these issues. There was consensus that any camera system should help serve as a deterrent to theft and vandalism. Finally, the board discussed homelessness and drug abuse in the downtown area. Members of the board discussed the change of public bathrooms to be more for business patrons only because of the significant drug use issues. It was also noted that many residents had seen increased police presence downtown, and people were pleased. 7.
