Call to order Chair Jane Whitehead called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM 2. Salute to the flag Chair J. Whitehead led the pledge of allegiance 3. Staff in attendance Planning Director Dean Trefethen 6. Acceptance of Minutes from previous meeting 6.I. Acceptance of May 11 minutes Motion to accept the minutes made by S. Ringer, L. Kessin seconded. All voted in favor. 7. City Council Liaison Report M. Haynes noted that there wasn’t much to do with the Heritage Commission with everything else going on currently. 8. Planning Board update Planning Director D. Trefethen noted there wasn’t much to do with the Heritage Commission. There is still no update for 76 Lakeside Ave. It has been a few months. The applicant still plans to demolish but there is no time frame. He did note that there are a few developers looking at various locations around the city and if they purchase will result in demolition permits. 9. New business 9.I. Election of Officers The election of officers was pushed to next month when more members can be present. 9.II. He is trying to keep the structure but needs help doing so with funds. He can possibly get a grant, but it would only be for a third of the cost. The tower bracing has been compromised to due age and wind. The 70 ft tower leans to the right about 8 ½ inches and will be difficult to fix. The arch inside has been compromised and the beams are rotten. Overall the building will be a tremendous undertaking to repair. The building is on the 7 to Save list and the National Register. Overall the building is still a viable structure. There is a little bit of momentum with saving, and he’d like to keep that going. The assessed cost so far is just under $5 million and would have to be done at once rather than in phases due to the slate roof. Which is still in good shape, but the holders are what needs to be replaced. Misiaszek Turpin Architects did the assessment. Chair J. Whitehead asked if the rotten beams could be infused with poly ethel, and W. Hackett was not sure as it would need architectural strength. W. Hackett noted the congregation is small so there is not a lot of money. His concern is more of the building rather than keeping it as a church. L. Kessin asked about a tour of the building and was told anytime. The phone number to call W. Discussion on space for the Historical and Museum Society Tara Shore updated the Commission on the County Club’s anniversary even the Historical Society has been working on. Whitehead announced The Dana Meeting House Association with support from New Hampshire Humanities is hosting Dr. Robert Goodby’s presentation “12,000 years ago in the Granite State” on Saturday, July 16, 6-8 p.m. in New Hampton. 13.
