Laconia Police Dept. Community Room
Present: Kate Bruchacova, Janet Simmon, Dennis Bothamley, Kathy James, Margaret Donnelly,
Carol Pierce, Rev. Judith Wright, David Osman, David Stamps
Excused: Carrie Chandler
The meeting came to order at 3pm.
As it is the first meeting for the 2020 MLK day celebrations, the discussion was wide-ranging.
Carol mentioned that Afro-Americans, Jewish People and Native Americans were among those
at risk. She raised the possibility of doing additional workshops throughout the year around
various themes such as racial justice. She is going to contact a PSU professor doing work in the
field.
Margaret mentioned that the ACLU was opening an office on racial justice in NH. She said she
would contact them for more information.
Dennis suggested that the Southern Poverty Law Center might be engaged in some fashion
especially as MLK Day is just two weeks ahead of the NH election.
David Osman mentioned that the Cohen Center was research and resource center on Holocaust
and genocide at Keene State College. (https://www.keene.edu/academics/ah/cchgs/)
Given that we obviously need to focus down we have scheduled a second meeting for October
22 to continue discussions.
