Human Relations Committee

Laconia Human Relations Committee Meeting of, Subcommittee on Celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr., January 31, 2023 Present: Patrick Wood, Matt Soza, Trish Weatherbee, Elaine Morrison, Dick Smith Location: Unitarian Universalist Society of Laconia, 172 Pleasant St., Laconia. Meeting began at 10:30 am. Review of MLK, Jr. Celebration on January 15th at the Belknap Mill and the art exhibit at the Belknap Mill, January 1-31st. And ideas for next year. Discussed media coverage, publicity, and public relations for the celebration day for this past year and next year. Discussed possible venues for next year’s celebration. Discussed how to improve communication next year between the venue, the subcommittee and the whole human relations committee. Agreement that next year we will have a break, midway through the celebration. We discussed the possibility of a gospel choir for next year’s celebration. We hope to have the schools involved in next year’s celebration. A suggestion was made to invite Linda Thanas as a possible new member to this subcommittee. All agreed to do so.
