Martin Luther King, Jr. Planning Committee Meeting Notes for August 22. 2024 10 am at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Laconia Present: Trish Weatherbee, Matt Soza, and Rev. Judith Wright. Unable to be present : Richard Littlefield Discussion : Debriefing about the funding for our event in January. Discussed possible participates for the panel part of our program. Paula Chambers has agreed to be on the panel. We are looking for a young adult, a representative of the homeless community, and a high school student. We definitely want to have persons of color, and possibly representation from the LGBTQ community on the panel or present in the audience for the discussion part of our program. Trish will invite the Power Chords to sing near the end of the program. We want to invite members of the LHRC to take six pictures of folks around Laconia, to be put in a pictorial collage at the end of the program. We will have our solidarity march at the end of the event. We discussed how to invite different facets of the community to feel welcome and invited to participate in the open discussion after the panel presentation. Trish will reach out to the Community Resource group to encourage them to let their own groups know about our hope for community inclusion in our discussions at our three MLK, Jr events in January.
