Laconia Putnam Fund
Board of Trustees Meeting
September 7, 2018
This meeting was called to order on September 7, 2018 at the Woodside Common located at the Taylor
Community at 12:00 pm with the following in attendance: Linda Peary, Rich Landry, Jim Rogato, Charles
Bradley and Betty Ballantyne.
PROGRAMS:
Mary Wilson of The Supremes: All set for the time being. We will be needing a Changing Station for the
show. Jim & Charles will address the request. Jeff Levitan of 92.9 Northeast Radio Station presented a
request to advertise 100 commercials 5 days prior the show for $160.00 and to include the Radio
signage at the show along with four seats. This advertising values as $1,200. We had a very good
response with Peter Noone and expect the same with the advertising support. We agreed to the offer.
Odds Bodkins: Story Teller has set all the dates for the local grammar schools excluding Middle School.
The Principal of the Middle School did not have an available slot for the Fall. They will attempt to set a
time for this coming Spring 2019. For the time being Pleasant Street School is 9/21, Elm Street School is
9/27, Woodland Heights School is 10/15 and Holy Trinity is 9/25.
NH Dr Astronaut (Dartmouth College): Offered to present at the Middle School this past winter. We
did communicate this news with the Middle School Principal early this past semester. We’ve made
phone calls and e-mail with no success after our discussion with her. We did receive word she does not
foresee available time for this school season. He was only to charge $2000 and insisted to present at
the Middle School Grade levels. We were unsuccessful to pull this program together. It is most
unpleasant in knowing we are to miss the opportunity.
Rebecca Luker – Broadway Singer: Charles brought up this performer. He is to reach out to our Agent,
Julie Grant.
Tommy Emanuel, Guitarist: Jim will be reaching out to Julie Grant our Agent.
Sugar Ray & The Bluetones and Jon Butcher: All set for Friday, November 9, 2018.
Belknap Mill Summer Series: Jim did receive an update of the Summer Series – 2018. Tara Shores,
Director of Operations did report good success for the Thursday evening performances. The crowds
ranged from 75 to 100 guests at the Programs. The Rockin Daddios drew a crowd of 200 plus people.
Joe Brown: A performer of the 60’s with the Ukulele had been seen on TV by Rich Landry. This is
someone that we do not know. Rich mentioned perhaps we should check into that person. Jim Rogoto
will be researching him as a potential show.
MISCELLANEOUS: Charles did reach out to Mayor Ed Engler via e-mail to discuss the Colonial Theater of
its status. It was discussed that perhaps we are to reach out to our State Senators in support of the
available grants. No set resolve had been finalized. It was discussed that perhaps we need invite them
to an upcoming show. They can see the need for an increase in crowd capacity for the level of
entertainment brought to Laconia, NH.
With no further discussion to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 12:56 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Betty Ballantyne
