Laconia Putnam Fund Meeting January 10, 2023 This meeting was called to order on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. located at City Hall, 45 East Beacon Street, Laconia, NH with the following in attendance: Linda Peary, Jim Rogato, Joan Mercer, and Betty Ballantyne (via phone audio). Guest: Randy Haas, Chairperson, Trustees of Trust. MINUTES: November 9, 2022, minutes were approved as submitted. TREASURERS REPORT: The data is disclosed by Randy Haas, Chairperson for the Trust of Trustees. From the start of the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2022, monies spent is $54,500 and remaining in our budget is $50,174. Market value for the Putnam books effective the dates followed are: 12/31/21 $1.744 Book value $1.2 06/20/21 $1.694 12/31/22 $1.4 The portfolio balance is 50% stocks and nearly 50% bonds with a small balance of cash. Randy reminded us that the goal of the Trust of the Trustees is to sustain the fund till perpetuity, though in knowing the guide is 7% of the market value for Putnam and why chosen at the 4% for this fiscal year. Randy and the board spent a significant amount of time auditing our deposits for the performances in 2022. A $2,000 deposit made to Julie Grant, our Agent, which is unaccounted for. We were not able to confirm the monies applied to the exact performance. Mutually we agreed to pursue a further audit with Julie Grant. Linda will reach out to Julie via e-mail. She will copy her correspondence with Julie to Randy and the Board. PLANNING & PROGRAMING: A discussion was had in bringing back the Temptations due the popularity of the show and the affordability. We will revisit having them again in 2024. We shall wait until Julie & Michael approach us with other options in knowing of our limited budget. Possibly a Michael Jackson tribute, perhaps a girl band/group like the Temptations. Joan researched college acapella groups. She had a lot of enthusiasm from Keene State College, UNH, and Dartmouth College students and no response from Plymouth State University. Their best time would be March/April or December. Joan was not able to commit to anyone, though brought it to the board today. Jim & Joan will be reaching out to others to consider how we are to produce a show. It’s unclear if we can secure it this year or next year. Linda brought up a discussion to consider the Rocking Daddio’s revue with his full band and potentially a new group. Jim did excuse himself from the group discussion. A possible October 23 show. Joan attended the Warren Miller Movie at the Colonial. The various age demographics were more diverse than our Putnam Programs. We discussed other programs in the past with not much success. Though one mentioned was Marionette’s from VT performances. Back several months ago we discussed a series of classic movies sponsored in the winter at the Colonial so the families can experience a movie theater venue. Jim brought up a Canadian group, maybe a 80’s band. NEXT MEETING: Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. to be held at Laconia City Hall.
