Laconia Putnam Fund

Laconia Putnam Fund Board of Trustees Meeting July 11, 2023 The meeting was called to order at 8:50 a.m. at Laconia City Hall with the following in attendance: Jim Rogato, Linda Peary and Joan Mercer. Minutes: A motion to accept the minutes of the previous meeting was made by Linda Peary and seconded by Joan Mercer. The motion was passed unanimously. Treasurer’s Report: Linda reported that expenses to date for the 2022-2023 fiscal year were $57,800.01 leaving an available balance of $46,877.81. With the beginning of the new fiscal year, as of July 1, 2023, we have received our appropriation of $46,600.00 for 2023-2024 giving us a total of $93,477.81. At this point, the business portion of the meeting was paused for a presentation by guests who had joined us. New Business: Susan Scrimshaw and Ann Nichols, representing the Pemigewasset Choral Society, made a presentation regarding their planned 50th Anniversary Concert to be held at the Colonial Theatre on May 4, 2024. They have been raising funds for nearly two years for this event and are requesting our consideration in financially supporting the cost for the Colonial Theatre which has been quoted at $5,000. Following the departure of Ms. Scrimshaw and Ms. Nichols, the business meeting resumed. Linda made a motion to approve a donation of $5,000 to the Pemigewasset Choral Society to cover the rental costs affiliated with the Colonial Theatre for their 50th Anniversary Program. Joan seconded the motion and it was passed without dissent. There was discussion regarding an invitation by Spectacle Management to Jim to attend a meeting with them next week. Nancy Brown reminded us that if three or more of us were to attend, that would constitute a quorum and the meeting would have to be posted and minutes of the meeting kept. It was decided that Jim Rogato and Linda Peary would represent the Putnam Fund Board. Joan asked that the increasing technical costs that we are being charged to hold our programs at the Colonial be addressed.
