Laconia Putnam Meeting
March 12, 2024
This meeting was called to order on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, held at Laconia City Hall, 25
Beacon Street E #1, Laconia, NH at 9:02 am with the following in attendance: Jim Rogato, Linda
Peary, Joanie Mercer, and Betty Ballantyne. Our guests attending are the following: Brian
O’Meara, President, Deb Gibson, Director; Angelo Gentile, Treasurer from the New Horizons
Band of the Lakes Region.
MINUTES : Linda Peary made a motion to accept the minutes as presented and Joanie Mercer
seconded it and with all in favor the February’s minutes were approved.
NEW HORIZON BA ND PRESENTATION : Firstly, Brian thanked Putnam for our support to
enable the band to present two Putnam supported events to the public free in 2023 and our
media support to promote both events. Secondly, all three guests made a presentation for two
shows free to be at Laconia in 2024. One date set is July 16, 2024, at Rotary Park and one
during the holiday yet undetermined of location and date. Discussions were held in support of
greater audience attendance. Linda had suggested a church and with further discussion of the
size of the space needed, it was narrowed down to the former Lady of the Lakes Church in
Lakeport, now known as a Baptist church. They requested a total of $1,000 for both
performances, noting the amount requested was less money this year. Linda Peary made a
motion to approve the money, Joanie Mercer seconded it, it was unanimously approved.
TREASURER ’S REPORT: Linda Peary presented the following numbers:
$24,554.00 Expenses
$56,781.00 Remaining available balance
Less - $ 1,000.00 Temptations deposit
Less - $12,850.00 Temptation show in September 2024
Less - $ 1,000.00 New Horizon Band two performances in 2024
Less - $ 3,300.00 Rockin Daddios in April 2024
Leaves a remaining $41,850.00 till the end of the fiscal year June 30, 2024.
TRUSTEES OF THE TRUST FUNDS: A reminder their meeting will be Monday, April 22,
2024, at 3:30 pm at the City Hall.
PUTNAM APPLICANT: Janet Brough has applied for a position on the Board. Linda Peary’s
five-year term is available for renewal. The City Council three-person committee will interview
both ladies soon.
PEMI CHORAL: The performance will be at the Laconia Colonial Theater on Saturday, May 4th
at 7:30 pm. Tickets to be available at the Box Office the date and time of the show. They have
106 singers and an 11-piece orchestra with a number of soloists. The show is “Sweet Rivers.”
We made contact at this meeting via phone with Mary Rivers to discuss more details inclusive of
assisting them with media support.
PROGRAMS: We currently have the following show secured:
Sunday, September 8, 2024, Temptations Review
Thursday, October 17, 2024, Sixties Mania
Friday, November 15th is still unknown and an available date.
We were unable to secure Jay Siegel of the Tokens for this Fall 2024
Veronica Lewis, NH performer is now available to perform this year. She has changed her
genre. With further discussion we believe the Opera House would be more suitable for the size
of the anticipated audience. Betty is to reach out with the Opera House Manager.
Betty is also to reach out to Adam Hirsham, Publisher of the Daily Sun to discuss another
collaboration for this coming Fall.
NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 9:00 am at City Hall.
With no further business to come to the board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:26 am.
