BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES June 12, 2012 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Ron Shriner, Norm Childress and Tilara McDonald-Treece. Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mr. Childress moved for approval of the minutes from the June 5, 2012 regular meeting. Mrs. McDonald- Treece seconded. Passed. BID OPENING Cincinnati Street Tunnel Extension This being the time set to open bids for the Cincinnati Street Tunnel Extension the following bids were received and opened: F & K Construction, Inc. Flora, Indiana Base Bid: $1,079,200.00 Deichman Excavating Logansport, Indiana Base Bid: $1,781,000.00 Atlas Excavating, Inc. West Lafayette, Indiana Base Bid: $1,097,000.00 Mr. Shriner moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. 2012 North Street Reconstruction Project Phase I Improvements This being the time set to open bids for the 2012 North Street Reconstruction Project Phase I Improvements the following bids were received and opened: Board of Public Works and Safety June 12, 2012 Page 2 Rieth-Riley Contractors Lafayette, Indiana Base Bid: $1,198,000.00 Alternate #1: $1,085,730.00 Milestone Contractors Lafayette, Indiana Base Bid: $917,085.60 Alternate #1: $770,330.00 Smock Fansler Corporation Indianapolis, Indiana Base Bid: $987,902.55 Alternate #1: $916,364.90 Mrs. Murray moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Rehabilitation-3728 Navarre Court This being the time set to open bids for the Rehabilitation-3728 Navarre Court the following bids were received and opened: Summer Chase Homes Lafayette, Indiana Base Bid: $65,101.50 Citation Homes, Inc. Lafayette, Indiana Base Bid: $56,000.00 Mr. Childress moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. New Construction-1618 N. 27th Street This being the time set to open bids for the New Construction-1618 N. 27th Street the following bids were received and opened: Citation Homes, Inc. Lafayette, Indiana Base Bid: $114,000.00 Board of Public Works and Safety June 12, 2012 Page 3 Summer Chase Homes Lafayette, Indiana Base Bid: $102,668.00 Mr. Childress moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Contract Addendum #1-Hannum, Wagle & Cline Engineering for Quiet Zone Jenny Miller, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of Contract Addendum #1 with Hannum, Wagle & Cline for the Quiet Zone Project with an Hourly Rate Not To Exceed $22,355.40. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. Supplemental Agreement #1-Bulter, Fairman & Seufert Inc. for Old Romney Road Reconstruction and Twyckenham Blvd Roundabouts and Trail Project Ms. Miller presented to the Board and recommended approval of Supplemental Agreement #1 with Butler, Fairman & Seufert for the Old Romney Road Reconstruction and Twyckenham Blvd Roundabouts and Trail Project. The supplemental agreement includes the Poland Hill Road Water Main Relocation and Roundabout Pedestrian Signals in the amount of $24,300.00. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. Tentative Notice of Selection-Lafayette Guaranteed Energy Savings Project Ms. Miller presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Tentative Notice of Selection for the Lafayette Guaranteed Energy Savings Project with Bowen Engineering Corporation for the Durkees Run Interceptor/Earl Avenue Reconstruction Project. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald- Treece seconded. Passed. Additional Services #2-Williams Creek Consulting for North Street Reconstruction and Integrated Stormwater Management Ms. Miller presented to the Board and recommended approval of Additional Services #2 with Williams Creek Consulting for the North Street Reconstruction and Integrated Stormwater Management in the amount of $31,000.00. The additional services were related to additional ADA revisions, additional streetscape design, grant applications and incorporating water relocation. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $569,824.37. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety June 12, 2012 Page 4 PUBLIC COMMENT There being no further business to come before the Board, President Henriott stated the meeting was adjourned.
