MINUTES
August 28, 2012
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.
in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Ron Shriner and Norm
Childress. Absent: Tilara McDonald-Treece and Cindy Murray
Ed Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mr. Shriner moved for approval of the minutes from the August 21, 2012 regular meeting. Mr. Childress
seconded. Passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Engineering
Reimbursable Agreement between City of Lafayette and Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana, Inc.
Jenny Miller, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a
Reimbursable Agreement between City of Lafayette and Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana, Inc in the
amount of $28,466.18. The agreement is to relocate the gas main from the west side of 3rd Street at
Cincinnati Street to the east side to avoid the manhole installation. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr.
Shriner seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $2,803,671.81. Mr.
Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
MISCELLANEOUS
Special Event Request- Bidwell Wedding
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the
Bidwell Wedding to be held on October 7, 2012 from 7:00am-3:00pm at Riehle Plaza and the Big 4
Depot. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
Event Street Closure Request-Germanfest
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request
for Germanfest to be held on September 7 & 8, 2012. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner
seconded. Passed.

Event Street Closure Request-Skate the Square
Al Parker, Harrison College Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of an
Event Street Closure Request for Skate the Square to be held on September 9, 2012 from 2:00pm-9:00pm
at the Courthouse. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
Event Street Closure Request-Bauer Community Center Block Party
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request
for the Bauer Community Center Block Party to be held on September 7, 2012 from 4:00pm-9:00pm on
Fountain Street between 3rd Street and 4th Street. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress
seconded. Passed.
Event Street Closure Request-Hannafest
VaLinda McBride, Hanna Center Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of
an Event Street Closure Request for Hannafest to be held on September 3, 2012 from 7:00am-7:00pm at
the Hanna Center. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
