BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES February 26, 2013 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Ron Shriner and Norm Childress Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mr. Childress moved for approval of the minutes from the February 19, 2013 regular meeting. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT 2013 Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Bisulfite & Hydrochloric Acid President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement. NEW BUSINESS Water Pollution Control Contract with Wessler Engineering for the Valley Street Drainage Project Brad Talley, Water Pollution Control Superintendent, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract with Wessler Engineering for the Valley Street Drainage Project in the amount not to exceed $70,000.00. Mr. Talley stated that the contract includes topographic field survey, geotechnical survey and a preliminary design report for this project. Marty Wessler, Wessler Engineering, stated that the contract is for the preliminary engineering design report. Mr. Wessler spoke about the specifics of the project. The goal of the project is the reconstruction of Valley Street and look at a multi-use path on one side of the other. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. 2013 Wastewater Training Contract with Wastewater Solutions, Inc Mr. Talley presented to the Board and recommended approval of the 2013 Wastewater Training Contract with Wastewater Solutions, Inc in the amount of $19,600.00 which will include all student materials. The training will be held at the wastewater treatment plant conference room on March 11, 12, 14 and 15th 2013. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety February 26, 2013 Page 2 Community Development Release of Mortgage-275 Lincoln Street, West Lafayette Indiana Aimee Jacobsen, Community Development Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Mortgage for 275 Lincoln Street, West Lafayette Indiana. The mortgage release is for Elizabeth C. Erlewine and Aaron D. Nemec. The amount of the mortgage has been paid off. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $3,168,235.37. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-Homeward Bound Walk President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Homeward Bound Walk to be held on April 7, 2013 from 10:00am-5:00pm at Riehle Plaza, Big 4 Depot and the John T. Myer Bridge. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
