BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES September 17, 2013 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Cindy Murray, Norm Childress, Ron Shriner and Dawn Ross. Absent: Gary Henriott Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. Mrs. Murray called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mr. Childress moved for approval of the minutes from the September 10, 2013 regular meeting. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. BID UNDER ADVISEMENT Enterprise Resource Planning System Mrs. Murray stated that this item will remain under advisement. Utility Emergency Repairs Program 2013-2014 Mrs. Murray stated that this item will remain under advisement. NEW BUSINESS Community Development CDBG Agreement between the City of Lafayette and Riggs Community Health Center, Inc. for Health Referral Services Program in Lafayette 2013 Jennie Peterson, Community Development, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a CDBG Agreement between the City of Lafayette and Riggs Community Health Center, Inc. for Health Referral Services Program in Lafayette 2013. The social service allocation for this agreement is in the amount of $11,000.00. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. CDBG Agreement between the City of Lafayette and Wabash Center, Inc. for Case Management Services for the Shelter Plus Care Program 2013 Ms. Peterson presented to the Board and recommended approval of a CDBG Agreement between the City of Lafayette and Wabash Center, Inc. for Case Management Services for the Shelter Plus Care Program 2013. The social service allocation for this agreement is in the amount of $19,000.00. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety September 17, 2013 Page 2 Engineering Notice to Proceed-2012 CDBG Sidewalk Replacement Project Hedgewood Beth Fizel, Engineering, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the 2012 CDBG Sidewalk Replacement Project for Hedgewood. This notice to proceed is for Alternate #1/Supplement #1 that was approved at last week’s Board of Works meeting. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Clerk 2014 Holiday Schedule Mrs. Murray presented to the Board and recommended approval of the 2014 Holiday Schedule for the City of Lafayette. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $944,480.95. Mrs. Murray asked if there were any further questions other than the ones that were asked and answered in caucus, there were none. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Event Street Closure Request-Just Walk Mrs. Murray presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request for Just Walk to be held on October 13, 2013 starting at 2:00pm at the Tippecanoe County Fair Grounds. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Event Street Closure Request-Church/Neighborhood Picnic Mrs. Murray presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request for a Church/Neighborhood Picnic to be held on October 12, 2013 from 3:00pm-7:00pm in the alley between State and King Streets. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Taxi Cab Permit Chief Flannelly, Police Department, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a taxi cab permit for April Hester. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Chief Flannelly presented to the Board and recommended approval of a taxi cab permit for Saroyan Fred Hester. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
