BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES March 25, 2014 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Cindy Murray, Ron Shriner, Dawn Ross and Norm Childress. Absent: Gary Henriott Ed Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present. Mrs. Murray called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mr. Childress moved for approval of the minutes from the March 18, 2014 regular meeting. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Community Development Agreement between Lafayette Housing Consortium and New Chauncey Housing, Inc. 2012-2013 Project #1-Dehart Aimee Jacobsen, Community Development Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Agreement between the Lafayette Housing Consortium and New Chauncey Housing, Inc. 2012- 2013 Project #1-Dehart up to $75,000.00 for 1 house. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Engineering Order to Remove Dead Tree Stanley Knight, Engineering, presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Order to Remove a Dead Tree at 1207 Wells Street that poses a hazard to the property, the adjacent property along with the sidewalk and street. Numerous letters and ultimately fines were sent to the property owners Martin and Serena Whitehead to no avail. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $2,947,774.37. Mrs. Murray asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety March 25, 2014 Page 2 MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-Lafayette Citizens Band Mrs. Murray presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Lafayette Citizens Band to be held from May 26-September 1, 2013 at Riehle Plaza and the Big 4 Depot Community Room. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Community Cancer Walk Mrs. Murray presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Community Cancer Walk to be held on September 28, 2014 from 11:00am-5:00pm at Riehle Plaza, Big 4 Depot Community Room and the public sidewalk. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Event Street Closure Request-Farmer’s “Mini” Markets Mrs. Murray presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request for the Farmer’s “Mini” Markets to be held on April 19, November 22 and December 6, 2014. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Event Street Closure Request-Round the Fountain Art Fair Mrs. Murray presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure request for the Round the Fountain Art Fair to be held on May 24, 2014 from 6:00am-6:00pm around the Courthouse Square downtown Lafayette. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
