BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES July 1, 2014 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Ron Shriner, Norm Childress and Dawn Ross. Absent: Cindy Murray Ed Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Ross moved for approval of the minutes from the June 24, 2014 regular meeting. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Community Development Release of Mortgage-2306 Berkstaff Drive Valerie Oakley, Community Development, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Mortgage for 2306 Berkstaff Drive. Mrs. Oakley stated that the owner has satisfied their period of affordability. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Release of Covenant for Deed Restrictions-2306 Berkstaff Drive Mrs. Oakley presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Covenant for Deed Restrictions for 2306 Berkstaff Drive. Mrs. Oakley stated that the owner has satisfied their period of affordability. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Release of Mortgage-116 Washington Street Mrs. Oakley presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Mortgage for 116 Washington Street. Mrs. Oakley stated that the owner has satisfied their period of affordability. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Release of Covenant for Deed Restrictions-116 Washington Street Mrs. Oakley presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Covenant for Deed Restrictions for 116 Washington Street. Mrs. Oakley stated that the owner has satisfied their period of affordability. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Mrs. Oakley stated that the owner has satisfied their period of affordability. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Purchasing Declaration of Surplus/Worthless Property-Fleet Maintenance Rick Morrissey, Purchasing Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of Surplus/Worthless Property for Fleet Maintenance. Mr. Morrissey stated that the list is a continuation of the clean-up in inventory previously addressed on June 24, 2014. Items that can be turned in for scrap as surplus property will be taken to Oscar Winski for disposal. The remaining items will be deemed worthless property and disregarded. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $9,948,533.87. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. President Henriott stated that the value of the claims is extremely high due to semi-annual bonds payments. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Event Street Closure Request-Joint Religious Service President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request for the Joint Religious Service to be held on July 16, 2014 from 7:30am-1:00pm. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety July 1, 2014 Page 3 Event Street Closure Request-Family BBQ & Block Party President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request for a Family BBQ & Block Party to be held on July 4 & 5, 2014 from 2:00pm-2:00am on Colfax Street between N. 18th & N. 19th Streets. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Event Street Closure Request-Taste of ALOC President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request for the Taste of ALOC to be held on July 12, 2014 from 8:00am-7:00pm on Perdue Street between S. 15th & S. 16th Streets. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
