BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES March 10, 2015 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm Childress, Dawn Ross and Ron Shriner Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the March 3, 2015 regular meeting. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. BID OPENING Old Romney Road Reconstruction Phase III This being the time set to open bids for the Old Romney Road Reconstruction Phase III, the following bids were received and opened: Milestone Contractors Lafayette, Indiana Base Bid: $3,771,709.00 Alternate Bid: $25,200.00 Rieth-Riley Construction Lafayette, Indiana Base Bid: $4,136,977.00 Alternate Bid: $42,000.00 Mr. Shriner moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Purchasing Recommendation for Award- Non Walk-In Rescue Apparatus Fire Chief, Richard Doyle, presented to the Board and recommended approval of the Recommendation of Award for Non Walk-In Rescue Apparatus with Marion Body Works/Hoosier Fire in the amount of $647,980.00. Chief Doyle stated that the bid was the most reasonable and economical bid of the 4 bids received. Chief Doyle gave the Board a brief description of the process the committee goes through to Board of Public Works and Safety March 10, 2015 Page 2 determine the specifications for the truck. Tim Schwartz, Hoosier Fire, answered questions from the Board regarding the variety of specifications that Hoosier Fire deals with when producing these customized trucks. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Declaration of Worthless Property-Police Department Mr. Morrissey presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of Worthless Property for the Police Department for a Toshiba Studio 28 Copier, ID# 3406. Mr. Morrissey stated that the copier is no longer used, parts are no longer available and it has no value. Once declared as worthless property, it will be picked up by Lafayette Copier for disposal. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Engineering Permission to Advertise-Veterans Memorial Parkway Shoulder Treatment: From US 52 to Concord Road Jenny Leshney, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise the Veterans Memorial Parkway Shoulder Treatment from US 52 to Concord Road. Work will take place on converting the gravel shoulder to an HMA shoulder, installing riprap, and miscellaneous work in the ditch. The bid opening is scheduled for March 31, 2015. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Tim Clary, Deputy Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $2,346,973.51. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-Carry the Torch Walk President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Carry the Torch Walk to be held on September 27, 2015 from 11:00am-5:00pm at Riehle Plaza. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
