BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES March 31, 2015 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm Childress, Ron Shriner and Dawn Ross Edward Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mr. Childress moved for approval of the minutes from the March 24, 2015 regular meeting. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. BID OPENING Columbia Block Parking Garage Restoration-RFQ This being the time set to open Request for Qualifications for the Columbia Block Parking Garage Restoration, the following requests were received from StructureTec and Gutknecht Construction. Mr. Shriner moved to take the requests under advisement for further review by the Technical Review Committee. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Veterans Memorial Parkway Shoulder Treatment: US 52 to Concord Road This being the time set to open bids for the Veterans Memorial Parkway Shoulder Treatment: US 52 to Concord Road, the following bids were received and opened: Milestone Contractors Lafayette, Indiana Base Bid: $368,559.00 Mrs. Murray moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT Old Romney Road Reconstruction Phase III President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement. Pedestrian Ramp Construction at Myers and Riehle Plaza Bridges Board of Public Works and Safety March 31, 2015 Page 2 President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement. 2015 Curb, Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement. US 52 CR 450E Intersection Improvements President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Permission to Advertise-Rome Drive Reconstruction Project Jenny Leshney, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise for the Rome Drive Reconstruction Project. The scope of the work includes reconstruction of Rome Drive from Shenandoah Drive to Creasy Lane, sidewalks, trail, curbs and gutters. The bid opening is set for April 21, 2015. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $471,564.24. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-St. Boniface Living Way of the Cross Jenny Harro, St. Boniface Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the St. Boniface Living Way of the Cross re-enactment to be held on April 3, 2015 from 10:30am-11:30am on North Street by St. Boniface. Mrs. Harro is requested barricades on North Street at 8th Street and 9th Street. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Mini Farmer’s Markets President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Mini Farmer’s Markets that will be held on April 4th, April 25th, November 14th, November 21st, and December 5th, 2015. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Taxi Cab Permits Chief Flannelly presented to the Board and recommended approval of taxi cab permits for Camron Ryan Bridges, Christopher J. Cox, Cathie L. Lewis, Kevin Jon Krout and Virginia E. Graves. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety March 31, 2015 Page 3 Chief Flannelly presented to the Board and recommended denial of a taxi cab permit for Kyle Grayson Barron due to his history with law enforcement and significant issues. Mr. Childress moved for denial. Mrs. Murray seconded. Denied.
