BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES September 1, 2015 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Cindy Murray, Ron Shriner and Dawn Ross. Absent: Gary Henriott and Norm Childress Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. Mrs. Murray called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mr. Shriner moved for approval of the minutes from the August 25, 2015 regular meeting. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Sale of Real Property-N. 1st Street Mrs. Murray stated that this will remain under advisement. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Gas Line Easement-Old Romney Road Relocation Jenny Leshney, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended a Gas Line Easement for the Old Romney Road Relocation. Mrs. Leshney stated that the gas company had to move some facilities out of the way and needed to do that before the City actually acquired the property. Once the property was acquired, the City agreed to give them easement to the place that they relocated the facilities. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Community Development Agreement between the Lafayette Housing Consortium and Habitat for Humanity: 2014-2015 Project #7 Underwood Street Valerie Oakley, Community Development, presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Agreement between the Lafayette Housing Consortium and Habitat for Humanity 2014-2015 Project #7 for Underwood Street in the amount of $30,000.57. The agreement is for new construction, energy efficient home at 2502 Underwood Street. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety September 1, 2015 Page 2 Agreement between the Lafayette Housing Consortium and New Chauncey Housing, Inc 2014-2015 Project #1 Dehart Mrs. Oakley presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Agreement between the Lafayette Housing Consortium and New Chauncey Housing, Inc 2014-2015 Project #1 Dehart in the amount of $75,000.00. The agreement is for rehabilitation at 223 Dehart. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Sub-Recipient Agreement 2015-2016 Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program Mrs. Oakley presented to the Board and recommended approval of an a Sub-Recipient Agreement 2015- 2016 Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program in the amount of $85,000.00. This agreement will provide rent assistance to low-income families on the Section 8 waiting list. The agreement enables the Housing Authority to provide 12 months of assistance for up to 15 additional families through the end of 2016. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $1,804,642.24. Mrs. Murray asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-Sidewalk Chalk Festival Mrs. Murray presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Sidewalk Chalk Festival to be held September 9-13 from 1:00pm-5:00pm on 7th Street between North and Brown Streets. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
