BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES February 16, 2016 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Dawn Ross, Norm Childress and Ron Shriner. Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mr. Childress moved for approval of the minutes from the February 9, 2016 regular meeting. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. BID OPENING Veterans Memorial Parkway & Fastline Drive Signalization This being the time set to open bids for the Veterans Memorial Parkway & Fastline Drive Signalization, the following bids were received and opened: Hawk Enterprises, Inc. Crown Point, Indiana Base Bid: $99,636.00 Alternate #1: $31,450.00 Alternate #2: $29,525.00 The Hoosier Company, Inc. Indianapolis, Indiana Base Bid: $85,150.00 Alternate #1: $27,959.00 Alternate #2: $35,995.00 City Lights & Signals, Inc. Fort Wayne, Indiana Base Bid: $106,851.00 Alternate #1: $29,100.00 Alternate #2: $28,725.00 Mr. Shriner moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety February 16, 2016 Page 2 BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Bisulfite, Hydrochloric Acid, Ferric Chloride & Sodium Aluminate President Henriott stated that this will remain under advisement. Engineering Permission to Advertise-2016 Pavement Markings Jenny Leshney, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise for the 2016 Pavement Markings. The bid opening is scheduled for March 8, 2016. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Permission to Advertise-2016 Curb, Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise for the 2016 Curb, Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project. The bid opening is scheduled for March 8, 2016. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Acceptance for Maintenance-Hawthorne Lakes Subdivision Section 3 Bob Foley, Engineering, presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Acceptance for Maintenance for Hawthorne Lakes Subdivision Section 3 with Merritt Contracting. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Legal Counsel Resolution 01-2016 A Resolution Accepting the Assignment of Certain Tax Sale Certificates from Tippecanoe County Mrs. Chosnek presented to the Board and recommended approval of Resolution 01-2016 A Resolution Accepting the Assignment of Certain Tax Sale Certificates from Tippecanoe County. Mrs. Chosnek stated that this is a resolution accepting assignment of three (3) tax sale certificates from Tippecanoe County. These are properties that did not sell at the September 2015 tax sale. The city is interested in these properties because they are on the Unsafe Structures List. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $5,446,644.38. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Board of Public Works and Safety February 16, 2016 Page 3 Special Event Request-Overmyer Wedding Ceremony President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Overmyer Wedding to be held on June 4, 2016 at the Pedestrian Bridge from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
