MINUTES
March 15, 2016
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in
the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Ron Shriner,
Dawn Ross and Norm Childress.
Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the March 8, 2016 regular meeting. Mr. Childress
seconded. Passed.
BID OPENING
2016 Pavement Markings
This being the time set to open bids for the 2016 Pavement Markings, the following bids were received
and opened:

Mr. Shriner moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.

Recommendation for Award-2016 Curb, Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project
Jenny Leshney, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a
Recommendation for Award for the 2016 Curb, Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project with Dixon
Construction in the amount of $111,685.00. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded.
Passed.
Contract-2016 Curb, Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project
Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract for the 2016 Curb,
Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project with Dixon Construction in the amount of $111,685.00. Mr.
Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
Notice to Proceed-2016 Curb, Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project
Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the 2016
Curb, Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project dated today. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross
seconded. Passed.
Recommendation for Award- Greenbush Street: Resurface, New Traffic Signal and Sidewalk from Erie
Street to Elmwood Avenue
Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Recommendation for Award for the
Greenbush Street Resurface, New Traffic Signal and Sidewalk from Erie Street to Elmwood Avenue with
Midwest Paving LLC in the amount of $801,801.00. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray
seconded. Passed.

Contract- Greenbush Street: Resurface, New Traffic Signal and Sidewalk from Erie Street to Elmwood
Avenue
Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract for the Greenbush Street
Resurface, New Traffic Signal and Sidewalk from Erie Street to Elmwood Avenue with Midwest Paving
LLC in the amount of $801,801.00. The completion date of the contract is August 15, 2016. Mr. Shriner
moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.

Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the
Greenbush Street Resurface, New Traffic Signal and Sidewalk from Erie Street to Elmwood Avenue. Mr.
Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
Amendment #1-Agreement with American Structurepoint for Greenbush Street Improvements
Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of Amendment #1 for the Greenbush
Street Improvements Project agreement with American Structurepoint with an increase of $17,994.19.
The amendment includes expansion of scope and construction related services. Mrs. Leshney answered
questions from the Board. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
Change Order #3-Sagamore Parkway Reconstruction, Phase II
Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of Change Order #3 for Sagamore
Parkway Reconstruction Phase II with Rieth-Riley Contractors in the amount of $28,169.51. Mr.
Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Tim Clary, Deputy Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $754,846.19.
President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Murray moved for
approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
MISCELLANEOUS
Special Event Request-Living Way of the Cross
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the
Living Way of the Cross to be held on March 25, 2016 from 10:30am-11:30am between 8th Street and 9th
Street near North Street at St. Boniface Church. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded.
Passed.
Special Event Request-Boiler Bridge Walk
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the
Boiler Bridge Walk to be held from September 2-November 18, 2016 for Purdue Football home games.
The walks will be from 4:00pm-6:00pm on the John T. Myers Bridge. Mr. Childress moved for approval.
