BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES August 16, 2016 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm Childress and Ron Shriner. Absent: Dawn Ross Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the August 9, 2016 regular meeting. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT 2016 Kossuth Street Tree Planting Project President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement. 2016 CDBG Fall Tree Planting Project President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement. NEW BUSINESS Purchasing Declaration of Surplus Property-Fleet Maintenance Rick Morrissey, Purchasing Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of Surplus Property for Fleet Maintenance for a 2003 Chevy Silverado C1500 ½ TN Pickup Vin # 1GCEC14X13Z243598. The vehicle will be donated to Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $330,108.54. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety August 16, 2016 Page 2 MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-Fill the Boot Chris Conklin, Lafayette Fire Department, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Fill the Boot to be held on August 26, 27 & 28, 2016 from 7:00am until 9:00pm at all Lafayette Fire Stations. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Grassroots Support for Local Passenger Rail President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Grassroots Support for Local Passenger Rail to be held on October 8, 2016 at 9:00am until 4:30pm at the Big 4 Deport Community Room. President Henriott stated that a Certificate of Liability was not submitted. Mrs. Murray moved for approval contingent upon receiving the certificate. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Banner Request-German Fest President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Banner Request for the German Fest. The banner will hang across Main Street from August 23-September 13, 2016. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Banner Request-Hunger Hike President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Banner Request for Hunger Hike. The banner will hang across Columbia Street from August 29-September 19, 2016. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
