BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES October 25, 2016 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm Childress, Dawn Ross and Ron Shriner Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Ross moved for approval of the minutes from the October 18, 2016 regular meeting. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. BID OPENING Structure Demolition-1915 Congress Street and 1815 Morton Street This being the time set to open bids for the Structure Demolition-1915 Congress Street and 1815 Morton Street, the following bids were received and opened: Hack Excavating, Inc Lafayette, Indiana Congress Street Bid: $29,385.00 Morton Street Bid: No Bid Winstead Entersprises, Inc Lafayette, Indiana Congress Street and Morton Street Combined Bid: $27,296.00 R & W Contracting, Inc West Lafayette, Indiana Congress Street Bid: $17,933.00 Morton Street Bid: No Bid Mr. Shriner moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Lafayette Housing Authority Release of Mortgage-612 N. 30th Street, Lafayette Indiana Board of Public Works and Safety October 25, 2016 Page 2 Valerie Oakley, Project Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Mortgage for 612 N. 30th Street Lafayette, Indiana. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Release of Mortgage-1706 Morton Street, Lafayette Indiana Mrs. Oakley presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Mortgage for 1706 Morton Street Lafayette, Indiana. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Release of Covenant for Deed Restrictions-1706 Morton Street, Lafayette Indiana Mrs. Oakley presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Covenant for Deed Restrictions for 1706 Morton Street Lafayette, Indiana. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Purchasing Newton Oil Contract Renewal Rick Morrissey, Purchasing Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Renewal Contract with Newton Oil. Mr. Morrissey recommended renewing the 2016 contract for gasoline, diesel, bio-diesel and ethanol for 2017. The supplier pricing for freight and adder since 2007 will remain constant throughout the contract renewal period. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $1,682,662.49. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-Food Finders Food Bank President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Food Finders Food Bank-Food Truck to be held on November 15, 2016 from 8:30am-11:30am at Riehle Plaza. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Operation Trick or Treat from Friends of Downtown President Henriott stated that this was a walk-in request. Mrs. Murray presented to the Board and recommended approval to close Main Street from 6th Street to 8th Street from 4:00pm-6:15pm for Operation Trick or Treat. Mrs. Murray stated that the Streetscape Construction will make it hard for the people to navigate Main Street for the event. Mrs. Murray stated that Friends of Downtown will need to get signatures from all of the businesses affected by the closer along with a certificate of insurance on file with the City of Lafayette. Mr. Shriner moved for approval contingent upon receiving the required documents. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
